Capcom were due some major gaming announcements this week, so low and behold some games have been announced. Only one I would really label as major, but I guess it is each to their own as the two others were really inevitable.

First one being that the great game that is Okami, is being released on the Wii sometime in the future. The second which was also very much on the cards a while ago, is the port to the PS3 of Lost Planet. Also, while annouced a few weeks ago, Monster Hunter 3 was moved from the PS3 to the Wii.

The third, well it is another sequel but an interesting one. Probably Capcom's major franchise other than the obvious names of more recent years. It's coming to the PS3, click here to see.

WOAH!

Street Fighter 4?

I really can't wait.

Street Fighter IV may even give me enough reason to actually buy a PS3. We'll see though.

Streetfighter IV could (and should) rock....but there was a reason Streetfighter III sunk without trace, so I'll wait until some game footage is available.

Capcom need to get a new Final Fight game on the horizon, as does Sega with Streets of Rage.

IS it on the 360 i really hope it is because it bad enough ps3 got tekken but SF 4 looks quality and well breath taking so anyone know is it 360 aswell ?
PS3 has Virtua Fighter 5, which is all you really need for a 3D fighting game fix.

So does the 360. I hope SFIV isn't 2d again - I think they've really thrashed that as far as it can go.

Namco made Soul Calibur for the x-box so there's no reason why Tekken won't make the jump eventually.

So does the 360.
Oh, I know. I was just saying about getting a PS3 just for SF4, when VF5 has been out since launch.
Will be the first Street Fighter to head straight to console, rather than heading to the arcade first if memory serves, which will be interesting.

Some more news from Capcom's Gamer Day.

  • Devil May Cry 4 is coming to the 360 and PS3 in February, with a PC release at a later date.
  • A new IP was unveiled entitled 'Dark Void, and will be developed by Airtight Games. Most of the Airtight team were responsible for Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. Said to be comprising "fast-paced vertical combat mixed with mid-air and on-foot action".
  • Bionic Commando is getting a remake and will be released on the PS3 and 360.
  • SSFIITHDR, Commando 3, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, and Talisman announced for PSN and Live.
  • Mega Man ZX Advent revealed for the DS
  • Their first ever sports title, We Love Golf! for the Wii announced.

Other games were shown off such as Zack and Wiki, and Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney which both look and sound super. No Resi 5 news.

It took a while before SF3 was embraced by 2D fighter fans (mainly because they got rid of all the old characters except Ryu, Ken, Chun Li and Akuma), but it's now held up as one of the very finest examples of the genre. Get Third Strike, and give it a chance. I still play it.

Oh, and...

I hope SFIV isn't 2d again

Heresy! I really hope it isn't 3D, unless they find some way of preserving the speed and intricacy of the 2D games, which I gather they didn't manage with EX (though I've never played it).

I agree with you on Streetfighter 3. Absolutely magnificent game, and really will sort out the men from the boys in terms of gaming ability. Streetfighter EX was really a 2.5d game, as although the graphics were 3d, the plane of movement was still only 2d really. It was frankly, crap.

Newer brief trailer, with gameplay footage: Street Fighter IV
wait a minute I didnt know there was a streetfighter 3 :O
Those cool cats in Japan are getting this. Just think if Capcom had released this instead of releasing SFIV.
Having seen Screenshots of SFIV (in Nuts mag bizarrely enough), it looks FANTASTIC. The detail of the 2d games but in 3d!!!! This game is gonna rock my world, i can feel it.

And apparently Gouki has been toned down from cheap bas*ard to just hard as nails this time. Mind you, they said that in Third Strike too.....
More screens that I think are from the same Mag scan from Eurogamer, here.
I'm really liking the look of this game, the cell-shaded effect is class.
