I wasn't at all interested in this when I first read the news, until Sumo Digital were mentioned which should bode well.

SEGA Superstars Tennis is being developed by Sumo Digital Ltd., the developer behind the Virtua Tennis series

SEGA of America and SEGA Europe have announced the development of SEGA Superstars Tennis, a game which includes over 15 playable SEGA characters - like Sonic The Hedgehog, AiAi from Super Monkey Ball fame, Ulala of Space Channel 5 and Amigo from Samba De Amigo, each of whom have their own unique attributes, and superstar tennis skills. The game's arcade style matches are played out on courts based on environments from Sega games of the past such as the lush tropics of Sonic's Green Hill Zone or the street fair fiesta of Amigo’s Carnival Park to name a few. In addition, there are a host of cameos and other surprises for fans of Sega games (press 'read more' for details). SEGA Superstars Tennis will be released in early 2008, for PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, Wii and DS - the first five screenshots found their way in our gallery.

It will be interesting to see who else makes up the 15, but I hope to god it isn't just a Sonic fest to fill up the numbers. Sega have many great characters who can fill it out before it even gets to that point, so hopefully it won't be the case.

Some screenshots. The Samba De Amigo stage looks super.
It looks great, but it's only tennis. Virtua Tennis is superb as it's being tennis. Mario Tennis wasn't much fun really and I feel this will be the same. Just too gimmicky for me.

My Wife will kill for this game if Tails is in it.

I've changed my mind, when is this out :)?
28th March. Far too long to wait.
Oh dear, GTA is out then too.
GTA's out a month later, nigh on the dot anyways.
Video here with Alex Kidd featured in it. On that note, talk is once again rumbling that Alex is getting revived with his own title, most likely on Wiiware.
It's look very Virtua Tennis, so I will defiently be getting this. Alex Kidd is looking awesome!
They've moved the release forward a week to 20th March. Sega again showing Ninty how it is done, eh?
