I'll get FIFA 2003, partially because I'm used to the controls and I can identify with nearly every aspect of the game, and, mainly becuase I don't have a PS2, and the last time I checked, Pro Evo 2 isn't available on the PC. But even if it was, I'm a FIFA nut for life!

unless FIFA's gameplay is as good (or better) as Pro Evo 2 then i'm getting PE2

scoring goals in the PE / ISS seires seems to be more staisfying then in FIFA games

The ISS series has always been far, far superior to the FIFA Pinball series.

There's no skilled needed to play a FIFA game. It's a case of tap the shoot/standing tackle button as fast as you can, and you'll managed to tackle, clear the ball and overhead kick it into the net without pressing another button.

EA can add all the fancy skills moves and graphical touches in the world, but it won't change the fact that the game is almost identical to the 1994 version, gameplay wise.

PES/ISS on the otherhand always seems to get better and better with each new version. The dribbling in the Game PES2 demo is by far the most realistic ever.

FIFA always used to hump ISS in the charts, because of advertising and presentation. Lately, Konami have made ISS/PES look just as good as any FIFA game, and more and more people seem to have gotten bored of the arcade, 100 mph, Pinball style gameplay of EA's game and switched to the intelligent, rewarding and far more enjoyable game, Pro Evo Soccer.

I will buy fifa 2003,The Proevolution games for me,arent as good, hate the commentators, also the kits arent right and i struggle to score(thats the real reason!)but fifa usually gets it right, although the stadiums could be better, but as i havent played either of the new games or demos,im only judging on last years games.

Pro evo 4 life

it's just by far the best footy game on the market and easily one of the best games on the ps2.

No more needs to be said.

Pro Evo 2. I played Pro Evolution Soccer so much that it actually stopped working! So I had to buy it again.

There's another football game that I've started playing now though. My GameCube's NTSC or whatever it's called so I have to order American/Japanese games off of the net. They arrive in 2 days though because I order them from London. Anyway back to the topic, I ordered MLS ExtraTime 2002 which is an American Soccer game and it's brilliant.

Well got my copy of Fifa 2003 yesterday, and its excellent!so much slicker and faster. The controls are stii similar, but the speed button has changed from triangle to R1 button. The game is a big improvement on last years.Andy Grey is replaced by Ally McCoist, but Motson remains:).The game is alot sharper, with several real stadiums for u 2 choose from! The crowd interact well, singing the score!not good when youre losing 4-0!:D,also each team has supporters flags etc displayed. Also as like Sky,it has a yellow line, showing u if youre offside! The likeness of the players is much improved+the kits r bang on,even giving u a retro shirt 2 choose from!Anyway Pro evolution 2 will have to go sum 2 compete with this!!
theres more skill invlolved in pro evoltuion than fifa`s button bashing so i`ll go for pro evolution im playing the first one now:D
I'm playing MLS ExtraTime 2002 :D

I've never really gone for Pro Evo before, mainly because FIFA has always had real teams, but I thought about it this year having heard so much good about it, and also because I was becoming bored with the same old FIFA every year.

But I heard many good things about FIFA 2003, so I picked up a copy to try it, and maybe exchange it for Pro Evo if it was the same old.

But EA have completely changed the game, thrown out the old system and started again, the new FIFA is fantastic, plays superbly, and it has 18 official European Stadiums and 5 or 6 others, endless amounts of tournaments, and official teams. If you've hated FIFA in the past for it's boring play, I suggest you rent 2003 just to give it a look, because I think you may be surprised.

On Friday I went to Blockbuster to rent Hitman 2 (which is awesome btw) and stumbled across a copy of Pro Evo 2, which in the November issue of official PS2 magazine I bought the day before had the release date down as 15th Nov and only 75% complete ( I'll avoid this mag in future.) Anyway my step-dad bought it for me (result :D ) and after playing it over the last few days I've noticed some improvements which put it well ahead of Fifa:

OPENING MOVIE: It probably wont make you go and buy it, but the quality computer generated recreations of moments like the Beckham free kick against Greece to the tune of Queen's "we will rock you" really gets you in the mood to play.

CROWD & COMMENTARY STANCE: You can now set the commentators and Fans to be biast towards the home or away side or to be neutral.

UPDATED TEAMS: It might not have as many teams as Fifa ( which has less than This is Football 2k3 :P ) but they've added a few more master league teams and some internationals too e.g. Senegal.

COMMENTARY: Shower of shite Chris 'who the f'n hell is he' James and Terry Butcher are replaced by (my favourite commentator) Peter Brackley and Trevor Francis.

REALISM: Just like in real football Pro Evo 2 has more minor free kicks being given for barging, handball etc. You now also seem to have a lot more control over your shots unlike Fifa where they go where they want (most of the time into the back of the net.) PE2 has also improved the handling of the players. The players change direction and run a lot more realistically.

In my opinion PE will always pee rings round Fifa gameplay wise and now it seems they're level in presentation. Fifa's far too easy which is probably why it's more popular with younger people and less fanatical football fans.

Hos says it like it is Pro evo 2 is and will be in my ps2 drawer untill gta vivce city or sd sym
I will probably pick up GTA Vice City and SD SYM before them, as I am not an enormous fan of Football games, but Pro Evoulution 2 looks good.

If you're talking about last years FIFA or any of it's predecessors (which from you're coments it sounds as though you are), then I would have to agree with you, but this years FIFA is much improved on the previous games, in fact it's a completely new game. It still may not be as good in gameplay as Pro, but it's getting there, i'd suggest next time you're in Blockbusters, get a copy of FIFA 2003 just to have a look.

As for Pro being level with FIFA in presentation, I cant agree with that. Maybe they have added more Master League Teams, but who wants to play with teams called Aragon, The Lake District, Dublin etc, even if you go through the long drawn out affair of putting the team names in properly, the commentry still spurts out the old names anyway. Also in FIFA you can play full seasons from a number of countrys, with European qualification etc, Pro has nothing like that.

As I said before, if EA Sports rolled out the same old FIFA this year again, i'd never have thought of buying it, but when I read that EA themselves had branded last years game as "crap" and had thrown out the old FIFA and started again, I tried it out, and there seriously is a vast improvement.

I agree with KJ, I got FIFA 2003 today for the PC, and, despite a bit of a slowdown due to my computer not being too fast, the gameplay is fantastic. Realistic tackles and interceptions now inhance the midfield, the shooting is improved, you actually have to aim better now, defending can be a bit of a nightmare, but you get used to it, and the modes of play are good. The through ball option is back, and its very useful, however, be warned, the Sprint button has changed.....

Overall, 8 out of 10, the best Football Simulation game on the PC by miles :D
