I'm SERIOUSLY at the end of my f*cking rope with this now. I've got a wireless router and am trying to connect the God damned Wii to it, and its not working.

First it finds the access point, then it doesnt. When it does, it fails the connection test. The Wii is about 2 metres from the f'n router, what the hell is the problem here?!

Not sure exactly, i remember when i first tried getting online with it i had to change my location to UK, *** its set at South Africa or something.

I've got everything set exactly as it states, and its STILL not f*cking working. Sometimes it will find access point, sometimes it wont. Sometimes it passes the connection test, 99% of the times it wont. I got as far as installing a system update, but the blue bar didnt move up and after 2-3 minutes ANOTHER God damned error.

I'm sorry, but this Wii online thing is a pile of sh*t. It doesnt work, its temperamental, the Wifi thing is a pain in the ass. Why the hell cant Nintendo give the option of connecting with an ethernet lead like everybody else?!

Pure crap. I'm so stressed out with this I'm certain by morning the Wii and the router will be in pieces.

I wish I could help but we got ours on in about 5 minutes and haven't had a problem with it since. Is it maybe your router rather than the Wii?
Well its not working for me, regardless of what I do or what settings I change or this and that, and its getting on my f'n nerves.
Have you got anything else that you can test the wireless of the router with?
Not that I know of. The fact that it connects here and there, and 2 minutes later wont, and then does again, and then not tells me the router CAN pick it up, but 90% of the time wont. I dont know if its my settings, or the Wii being a pr*ck or what, but I've lost my rag with it now. I'm so sick of pushing this stupid f*cking button and getting an error message.
Breathe, breathe...
If it is connecting and dropping then that points to either the Wii Wireless Connection or the Wireless Router. Have you powered down the router and checked that the WLAN is working as expected (can you connect other devices to it and do they maintain a connetion).

The laptop is holding a connection to the router fine as is the desktop and the other desktop that is hardwired to the router is fine, its only the stupid piece of sh*t Wii, it just will not connect and sustain.

I've managed to get to the update with the blue bar about 4-5 times over the past 7 HOURS of constantly trying to get this to work, and as soon as it gets to that stage, the blue bar doesnt budge and then I get one of about 5 various error codes and info on how to 'fix it'.

There is nothing I can do to get this to work as far as I can tell. I've got everything set up perfectly, I've followed all the instructions and it wont connect.

The frustrating thing is that there doesnt seem to be any reason why it shouldnt.

Can you factory default the Wii? If not I'd return the Wii under it's 12 month warranty (or buy the ethernet adapter and see if that works first).

I've factory defaulted the Wii and the router and nothing...do you think the issue might be with the Wii unit?

I wonder if there is anywhere that could test it to see if it connects, do GAME or Gamestation offer than service?

I'd try it on another WLAN if possible, a family member or friend possibly. If not, take it back to where you bought it from if it is under 12 months then they have to accept it. If you say the wifi adapter is faulty then they just ship it bck to Nintendo and you get a nice shiny new Wii.

Datel do a LAN adapter for it, i got one before i had wireless, there about 15 quid.

How was it? Did it work without any problems?

I had loads of problems with setting my Wii up to the internet.

In the end, I reset the router and reconfigured the password etc through my pc (which connects to the router via ethernet) and it sorted it out.

Bought a new router today, still recieving the same problems. I called GAME and they have Wii's in stock, so I'm going in with my reciept and exchanging mine for a brand new one, if the Wifi is screwed on my Wii, I'll have a new one within the hour.

IF, after I try it all out with the new Wii and new router that it still isnt working, I'll smash my Wii into little tiny pieces.

Yea it did, but then so did my wireless one when i got a router.
