I thought it would a fun idea to list some of the things you miss from years ago when you first started watching wrestling (for those who have been watching for a while). So much has changed in the 10 or so years I've been watching that I sometimes can't beliee I'm watching the same guys. So list some of the things you liked from way back when (regardless of whether you think things are better or worse now)

Remember when...

Finishers were pretty useless becasue everyone used to kick out of them (especially at PPVs). It used to take a finisher through a table or something drastic for a title to change hands.

WWE used in-house themes for wrestlers, instead of relying on current bands to provide music (i'm thinking kane and edge specifically)

Mankind was in the WWF (nuff said on that one).

Remember when you used to get up at watch Friday Night Smackdown on a saturday morning on Sky One at 10/11am?

Yeah I did that, and then I still watched the late night version, just because I wanted to see the chair connect.

YES!

I remember I used to be scared of The Undertaker.
Remember when the Royal Rumble was free and on tarestrial TV?

Remember when Gorilla Monsoon wore that horrible smoking jacket and orange glasses? Remember when Steve Austin said, on air, that Monsoon wore those cloudy glasses because he smoked too much dope?

Good days.

YES!! I remember now. Didn't channel 4 and Sky Sports alternate Pay-per-views? God that was many moons ago though. There's no chance WWE will ever be shown on 4 again!

No. Cause that never happened.

Honestly finishers, ever since the WWE went big in 1984/85, have always usually been match enders. Only rarely are they ever done drastically to change titles. Your memory is playing tricks on you there.

He might be alluding to the fact that in the attitude era there were a lot more false finishes and people kicking out of finishers.

But they weren't kicking out of finishers.

False finishers yes, kicking out of finishers? No.

Who kicked out of the Stunner? Tombstone? Sweet Chin Music? Pedigree?

But they weren't kicking out of finishers.

Well we are talking a while ago now and I am actually supposed to be doing work now so I can't research this but I'm pretty sure all of them have been kicked out of apart from the SCM,I don't know about that.

Kane kicked out of the tombstone,Rock kicked out of the stunner off the top of my head.

Yeah but that happens now too.

But how often does it happen? Every week? Every month?

Heck maybe every year?

Its hardly like it was consistently they were kicked out of was it? That's what I mean. The finishers were still important, its just every say 12 months someone kicked out of them to make them seem special. Wasn't a regular occurence like being made out.

But they weren't kicking out of finishers.

Undertaker and Kane both kicked out of the Tombstone. 'Taker no-sold Sweet Chin Music (on more than one occasion), Mick Foley kicked out of the Pedigree and Rock kicked out of the Stunner more than once.

Not to mention that the Rock Bottom was also kicked out of many times too.

It wasn't an every week occurance, but it did happen many times.

So in 18 years of the tombstone its been kicked out of less than 10 times?

Sweet Chin Music no sold in over 10 years.

Pedigree kicked out of about 5 times in over 10 years.

Same with stunner.

To emphasise my point again, it's happened, but I was stating that its incredibly rare. Thus the original point of everyone kicking out of finishers every week never happened.

I wasn't agreeing with the original point just trying to classify what he meant. My point was that the kicking out of finishers was more common in the attitude era then it is now.
See I think thats not true at all. Its no different.
