Undoubtedly the events of last year which saw the tragic deaths of Nancy,Michael and Chris Benoit affected every wrestling fan regardless of age, race, nationality or preferred promotion but I think it's about time people stopped pretending the guy didn't exist.

Regardless of the circumstances in which he left us (which of course I don't condone) he was a fantastic wrestler who had countless classics against foes in many promotions in many countries as well as entertaining feuds.

So the purpose of this thread is for us to talk about our favourite Benoit matches/storylines and remember what he contributed to the industry instead of how he left it...thank you.

My favourite memories were him finally becoming world heavyweight champion at Wrestlemania 20 after over twenty years of grafting through ECW,WCW and WWF and constantly being told he wasn't big enough or charismatic enough to headline a major promotion, another memory I'm quite fond of is the battles he had with Kurt Angle on numerous shows in numerous types of matches (does anyone remember a bad match between the pair :lol).

So folks, don't be offended by this thread because if you've read what I've put properly that's not the intention so knock yourselves out by sharing your favourite rabid wolverine memories because after all life goes on.

Chris Who?:lol
I would rather forget about him thanks. Yes he had some great matches, which I would still consider great, but meh I would rather forget about him.
i would rather forget the child and wife killing ******* personally

Nobody excuses what he did but this thread isn't about that,I just wish people would climb out from this massive rock they've been living under because there has gotta be some people who want to talk about him now and then.

Well if you are trying to forget about him, surely posting in a thread about him is not a good idea.

What ever Benoit did in the ring is worth nothing to no one now because of what he did. OK MVP think of it like this remember a footballer called Lee Hughes. He was once one of the top goal scorers in the UK one season, does anyone really remember that no. Wanna know why he ran someone over killed them and failed to stop, there fore making anything he has ever done in his career pointless.

This is going to be the last time i am going to post in this because Benoit was a sick mother ****er who killed his family no "I just wish people would climb out from this massive rock they've been living under" will ever change that.

My personal thoughts the WWE is doing a good job in black listing him and long may it continue

Exactly, the thread title details what this is all about and I merely wrote what I did in the initial post as a disclaimer of sorts against a potential backlash.

If this thread is closed or deleted than fair enough but I'm not trying to hurt people's feelings.

No matter what he did in the ring he still did what he did at home. He deserves one place in memory and thats to be distant.
Chris Benoit, I personally never liked him but I was looking forward to see what he did on ECW.

I read that he was supposed to become the ECW champion and go on to feud with CM Punk over the gold, imagine the matches they'd have had!!!

I personally would love to see him in the hall of Fame. I know this will never happen because of what is happening in this thread. People me included can not separate Chris Benoit the wrestler from Chris Benoit the man.

I loved most of his matches from old school technical dragouts with Finlay, his matches with eddie and rey. His Matches with Angle and Taker. I ahve lots of Benoit moments my favourite being Wrestlemania 20 and Backlash 04? but even I who loved Chris with all my heart find it really hard watching his matches at the moment as it just seems wrong.

In short i will always warmly remember Chris Benoit the wrestler and hope in time i will be able to watch his matches again with enjoyment, But part of me thinks i will never be able to forget Chris Benoit the man, wife and child murderer.

I don't remember Benoit having any singles matches with Undertaker but I do recall them being in a fatal-4-way one time that included Kane and The Rock (Benoit initially looked like he had won but commissioner Foley restarted the match as Taker's feet were on the ropes).

The thing is I don't find it hard to seperate his personal life from his professional life because they were completely different,it's kind of like loving a movie character regardless of how you feel about the actor/actress who played them or what they might have done.

End of the day Benoit played a character in a manner of speaking and that character just so happened to be arguably the most polished technical wrestler of his generation and one of the hardest working too.

I'm not insensitive but am simply a realist and what I said earlier is true, life goes on and if in five years time people are still complaining and refusing to discuss him than they really will be ignorant.

They had a Benoit figure in Toymaster today (yeah I went into Toymaster).

To be honest everybody knows how great a wrestler he was, but it's impossible to discuss anybody without bringing up what happened.

I don't mind the thread MVP, as I think its a good one, but to me Chris Benoit may have had many a great matches, but to most people he'll only be remembered for one thing.

If he hadn't have taken his wife and kid's life he wouldve probably got the 'sympathy vote' and the guaranteed Hall Of Fame Induction this year if it was suicide alone.

Benoit Vs Angle at Royal Rumble 2003 was a Mat Classic though, which will always be one of my favourite matches regardless though.

Didn't that 2003 match actually feature the rarest of the rare for a heel title retaining........a clean finish and no interference?

In five years time people will still remember what he did. The WWE will still not recognize him and he will never get into the HOF. I'm just being realistic that what happens to most murderers they get what they deserve.

I'm not touting him for the hall of fame and especially not WWE's because the majority of people in that don't deserve to be so and are stupid choices.

WWE haven't completely deleted him. Look around WWE.com and he's still there enough to not insult anyone's intelligence.

I agree that some are fillers.

Chris Benoit was for most of his career a great wrestler one of the best. But it's what happened at the end that gives people the creeps when his name is brought up.

I could understand if he was unhappy and wanted to off himself but the biggest problem is over a 2 day period he killed his wife and a defenceless child. That is why Chris Benoit's name is not mentioned with a lot of respect and never will be again. I commend you for trying to show him in a favourable light by reliving his career but most people now know him as a murderer.

One match I have, that's not especially awesome, but is pretty damn good. is a Bam Bam Bigelow & Owen Hart vs Benoit & Steve Williams tag match from New Japan in '90. It's almost spooky to watch, knowing that they're all four dead. Maybe Chris being in a mask has something to do with it, but I can forget about what he did when I'm watching it.
