Posted March 14, 200816 yr What match do you find you hated but is widely regarded as a classic by other fans and critics. Bret vs Shawn at WMania 12 i personally found incredibly boring apart from the overtime period.
March 14, 200816 yr The near 60min Cena vs Michaels from Raw when WWE came over here to England on tour It wasn't that it was a bad match but for large parts I was just really bored by it, the sheer amount of ad breaks in it didn't help either

HBK isn't as exciting as people make him out to be and I don't like Cena's style at all...not my kind of match at all. Overrated in my eyes.
March 14, 200816 yr Well, I saw it live and the ad breaks would have been welcome as it was incredibly boring. Agreed. Their WrestleMania match was much better in my eyes.

Not a good match whatsoever, and shock horror Cena vs Umaga folks, wasn't the 5 star classic it was made out to be.
March 14, 200816 yr Angle/Michaels from WM21 has to up there, I mean I enjoyed it for what it was, but the suggestion that this is the, or one of, the greatest matches of all time is just too humerous for words.

March 14, 200816 yr Any Angle vs. Joe match. People decided before they even happened that they were going to be great matches because OMG IT'S ANGLE AND JOE AND THEY'RE WRESTLING EACH OTHER~!!! and regardless of how they turned out, people were still going to maintain they were super duper matches. They could have come to the ring and Joe could have put Angle in a chinlock for an hour while reading the phonebook and some people on the internet would still have rubbed one out over it. Didn't particularly like any of them, seemed to me Angle dragged Joe down to his level (because Angle can, bah Gawd, work. Just ask him, he'll tell you) and it was around that time Joe seemed to stop caring whereas before Angle came in, Joe was 'Holy sh*t, it's Samoa Joe, someone is going to die tonight' level and was the best thing about TNA. And, you know, Ironman match and all that. Still don't know where Bret is pulling the opinion that it's one of his best matches out of, it wouldn't even be in his top 20. Guess he's just a mark for going 1 hour broadway or something. Edited March 14, 200816 yr by Naitch
March 14, 200816 yr The Bret / HboreK Ironman match yeah for sure. Also the second, and Summerslam, Ramon (Hall) HBK match. The later was good for sure but really just repeated the WM match. Some say it's better than the first, and it did tell a better story but it was just same old same old.
March 14, 200816 yr The thing that bugs me about the Bret/HBK Iron man match, is that it's so much worse than the match they had at Survivor Series 92, which was excellent. I think it is just the "but they wrestled for 1 hour!" thing which is why Bret and HBK seem to love it so much. I watched the Rock/HHH ladder match recently, and must say it was far poorer than I remember. I also highly dislike the WM17 TLC rematch between the Hardys/Dudleys/E&C. Just a real let down compared to their previous matches. Was just spot.spot.spot. followed by an abundance of unnecessary interference.
March 15, 200816 yr I was gonna take a shot at Dave and say "Angle/Joe, lol" but then I remembered that everyone quite rightly realised that their matches weren't great at all, unlike the unanimous love for Cena/Umaga, the best David v Goliath match since Andre/Hogan. Same for Bret/Michaels at WM12. I find it overrated by those who love it, but not universally loved. So in terms of matches that everyone loves that I saw nothing in, I'll shoot for Punk/Joe. Bored the **** out of me.
March 15, 200816 yr All 3 of the Punk vs. Joe matches are vastly overrated. The third is plenty fun, and the first two lose a MASSIVE amount of muster if you know the result. The people who praise it highly (like me) were lucky enough to get into them blind. The first being better than the second, mainly because of Joe's last gasp "BITCH PLEASE" surprise attack and him teetering towards the heel side infront of the STRONG Pro-Punk, Chicago crowd. For me it's Roderick/Danielson III. The first two were shorter and had a much more interesting dynamic.
March 15, 200816 yr Steamboat vs Savage @ Wrestlemania 3. A good match, but one of the best ever?! I don't get it. It wasn't that good, and I wasn't that impressed. Also near the top of the list is TLC II. The 1st 2 matches between the 3 teams were SO much better
March 15, 200816 yr Bret vs HBK @ WM12 without a doubt. Not only was is underwhelming, it was flat out shite. Complete crap, half the audience had left the building by the midway point, it was so boring. I consider it the worst WrestleMania main event match in the history of the event and THE worst iron man match I've ever seen. Savage vs Steamboat wasnt a bad match by any stretch of the imagination, but it is highly overrated. 47645908 near falls doesnt make for the 'greatest match in WM history' I'm afraid.
March 15, 200816 yr Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg @ Wrestlemania 20 Very poor match with at least a max of 6 moves.
March 15, 200816 yr Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg @ Wrestlemania 20 Very poor match with at least a max of 6 moves. I quite agree. That match is ****.
March 15, 200816 yr Was it overrated though? I mean everyone said it was lousy regardless, the only good thing was the mental crowd reactions for both men. As for my next overrated candidate. Undertaker/Mankind KOTR 98. As a spectacle it's off the charts. As a match it's pretty lousy. But with Foley half conscious and barely able to move, its highly understandable.
March 15, 200816 yr Yeah I agree, their match at In Your House 14 was MUCH better, and still brutal. I remember Taker piefacing Foley backwards hard into the guardrail twice, with the back of Mick's head smacking against it. Ouch.
March 15, 200816 yr I would go with Hogan v Rock at Mania 18. Much like the 98 Cell match, the spectacle far overshadowed the actual in ring action.
