April 22, 200816 yr Stolen this from another forum, so not sure of the original source, but: The sixth installment in the classic video games series, Silent Hill: Homecoming introduces another protagonist to the mythos. The story follows Alex Shepherd, returning to his hometown of Shepherd’s Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother. From Shepherd’s Glen to Silent Hill, Alex must face the darkest of horrors in order to find his brother. Struggling with his own grip on reality, Alex must unravel the mystery behind his nightmares, discover the truth behind his brother’s disappearance, and confront the evil lurks in the seemingly empty streets of Silent Hill. Homecoming is the first Silent Hill title for the new wave of ‘next generation’ consoles, featuring all-new graphics that bring the fear and terror of Silent Hill alive like never before. Alex must survive attacks from the misshapen denizens of the town using an all-new enhanced combat system that provides a wide array of attacks and counters. Along the way, Alex will encounter a variety of weapons to battle these horrific monsters and must also solve deadly puzzles as he uncovers the darkest secrets of Silent Hill. Silent Hill: Homecoming also features an all-new soundtrack by acclaimed series composer Akira Yamaoka.
April 22, 200816 yr Ive always liked games like Silent Hill, so i probably will buy it if it gets positive reviews
April 22, 200816 yr I shall be getting this. I've only ever played the fourth game though, as I never had the chance to play the others. :(
April 22, 200816 yr I shall be getting this. I've only ever played the fourth game though, as I never had the chance to play the others. :( I am surprised you like the game then! The Room I(I think that was Silent Hill 4) was god awful compared to the other games - I even traded it after only playing it for a few hours Luckily, I still have faith in the series and I have this on preorder
April 22, 200816 yr I agree with EM about the games. The first three games are excellent (especially the second, which is the second-best Survival Horror game behind Resident Evil 4 IMO). I've read some articles about Silent Hill 5 and the main rumour I've picked up on (and is mentioned above) is that the fighting has been revamped. The reason for this is that the main character is a trained soldier, thus has a knowledge of weapons lacking in the previous protagonists.

I'm going to try and get the other games from ebay at some point.

Errgh..but that was the whole point and main seller of Silent Hill games (aside from Origins for the PSP) that for a change in a horror game you were just an ordinary man with an ordinary reaction to everything around you. If the main character in this new Silent Hill is Jonny 'Testosterone' Tits with five hand grenades and CQC skills then I can't help but feel it will come across bloody tedious after 5 minutes of play.
April 30, 200816 yr I cannot wait to this to come out being a fan of the series since SH1 on the PS1. I dont mind the idea of a person of an army based background actually being a main character because it would be a homage to one of the films which helped to inspire the first game Jacob's Ladder
April 30, 200816 yr I'm looking forward to this, but RE5 is where its at. Agreed - RE4 was certainly one of my fav games of all time, however I have both on pre-order - call me greedy!:lol
April 30, 200816 yr I'm looking forward to this, but RE5 is where its at. Well of course RE5 is going to be amazing to play, but for Survival horror fans the next 12 months is going to be good because in a few months time we have the new Alone in the Dark game (which looks amazing) SH 5 and of course RE 5
May 10, 200816 yr Played 1 and 2 missed 3 and 4 by all accounts on 4 I didnt miss much might buy this one see how it goes, if a driving game comes out the same time I probably take a miss, I'm more interested in RE5 really. Sat here for 15 mins and still cant figure out why the name though. xXx
