Today is the ninth anniversary of the tragic events in the Kemper Arena that claimed the life of one of wrestling's genuine "nice guys" Owen Hart. On the 23rd of May 1999, at WWE's "Over The Edge" PPV, Owen fell some 80 feet from the rafters of the arena when his harness (zip line) failed.

So just take a moment of pause to think about him and his family.

RIP Owen.

Yeah it is 9 years today. I didnt realise till someone told me today. RIP owen
I had no idea it was 9 years today, I will never forget waking up for school the next morning after taping the PPV and my brother, who had watched it live, saying Owen had died

He was a very good worker and was charismatic too but being in the shadow of Bret hurt his career more than helped it in my opinion.

I'll never forget Owen turning on Bret and going solo with a new attitude and that quot " Enough is enough and it's time for a change!!!! " .

Rest In Peace Owen...you're worth ten of most of today's crop of wrestlers

Actually the enough is enough stuff came in 98 when he joined the Nation. The Bret feud though did have the wonderful line of "I kicked your leg out of your leg".

As for Owen, arguably the biggest tragedy the wrestling industry has and probably ever will encounter. I'm not gonna lie and say Owen was gonna become a huge star etc but he was a great worker, a guy who was unbelievably solid in pretty much everything he did. Was a tremendous loss and wrestling lost a great guy all round as in interviews you never hear a bad word said about him.

A great Loss I cried my eyes out that day and Raw after was so hard to watch.

Hope he is sleeping well.

RIP Owen.

xXx

I remembered that it was today when I saw the date. R.I.P Owen. You are greatly missed.
i never saw him wrestle but still rip
R.I.P Owen

OMG I can't believe it's already been nine years. Time goes by to fast these days.

RIP Owen and best wishes to the whole Hart family.

R.I.P Owen Hart. (You are a true wwf legend)
I always remember the day. Owen Hart you're still truly missed!
I still remember nearly wetting my pants in excitement and sheer joy when Owen put the sharpshooter on Jason Sensation,he really looked like he was breaking the kid in half!

I never seen him wrestle, promo or anything.

But R.I.P, because from the way everyone talks about him, I know he was better than nearly all of the ECW roster.

Hard to believe it's been nine years. He was one of my favorites. Always entertaining and had some really good matches. I hope WWE soon gives us a large DVD release for him.

They'll probably save that for next year, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his death..or the year he goes into the hall of fame.

Someday the WWE will do the right thing and place Owen in their HOF.

Its a strange world when "doing the right thing" and the only reason they'd ever put him in the HOF is because he's dead no?

There are many reasons why Owen Hart Should be in the WWE HOF.

1.Hell of a wrestler

2.Held every title except the WWE title.

3.Former King Of The Ring

4.One of the best workers in the WWE

Not to mention unlike most thats passed on in pro wrestling he died inside of the ring during a live PPV.He died inside of the very place they work every single day while trying to enterain the wrestling fans live in the arena and around the world. To some thats not a big deal but its a big deal to me.

Hell, what did "Ace" Cowboy Bob Orton do to get into the HOF? Protect Piper and............nothing else. Held no titles in the WWE either. Same goes for Mr.Wonderful. Other than feuding with Hogan what else did he do to deserve to be in the HOF? Oh thats right he put asses in seats.(Like Owen didnt) So that stands out more than what happened with Owen's career all the way to his death Jung? I dont think so. Owen Hart based on what hes done in pro wrestling should be in the WWE HOF. Long overdue IMO.:roll
