What do you think are some of the weirdest Gimmick's of all time?

This is not whether they are good or bad, just.....weird, but I will list whether I think they are good or bad anyway. :lol

Here are some of my examples:

Bastion Booger - A greasy, hairy, fat man in a weird nappy......ok :lol

I have no idea what sick, twisted mind thought this up. I guess it's unique, but there is no way it would possibly get over, therefore its a bad gimmick.

Goldust - A face-painted movie buff, who confuses everybody concerning his sexuality. A unique gimmick, but unlike Bastion Booger, it got over with the fans, and it worked. The gimmick of Goldust was interesting and Dustin Rhodes played the character very well (maybe a little too well:lol) so therefore it is a good gimmick.

Well thats all I can think of right now....what do you think?

I haven't seen Naked Mideon but I've heard of him. Was he actually naked?

Nah, he wore a thong. It still was great to see Regals face when he was facing him for the Euro belt. :lol

I guess it was kinda like Big Dick Johnson then?

I agree that weird gimmicks aren't necessarily bad. Re. your example of Goldust it certainly was quite the transformation for those of us who were used to seeing him as plain old Dustin Rhodes where his Southern babyface character was pretty much the opposite of the androgynous movie-quoter he became. Some of the things they had him do over the years :eek

It is always a shock at first when you get used to seeing someone in a certain role and then they completely change gimmicks to something you wouldn't have thought would suit them (but often does in the end). The following are also weird but not bad... So what about:

Mankind - The deranged lunatic gimmick had been done before and since but this was a little different. At least in the early days with the way the character was presented: the scary leather mask, the back story of him being classical pianist who'd smashed his own hand and now lived in a boiler room playing with rats (of the four legged kind), and his matches where he was literally tearing his own hair out during matches. Foley had always been a bit weird but this still took a bit of getting used to for the first month or so. Similar to Goldust in that a lot of fans were used to Foley as Cactus Jack so when the character debuted a lot of the smarter fans (or just WCW fans) were quick to dismiss the gimmick but Foley was able to make it work and later evolved the character in a totally different direction.

By the same token a gimmick Foley helped come up with for one of his friends...

Al Snow - He'd had gimmicks and nicknames before - 'Simply Sensational' in SMW, Avatar, Shinobi and Leif Cassidy in WWF but when he went to ECW became plain old Al Snow had some kind of nervous breakdown and started taking advice from 'Head'. It got over so I'd say it was a good gimmick but still talking to a manikin head is just...weird.

Mankind and Al Snow are definately weird but great at the same time.:xyx
I'd say The Boogeyman was weird but was different and worked.

The Gobbledy Gooker!!

You want weird then look no further then this gimmick, it didn't last long but boy was it strange! A huge egg was displayed on several shows leading upto the 1990 Survivor Series and got quite a bit of hype from the commentery team from what I remember, then at the PPV it 'hatched' to reveal a huge turkey-thing named The Gobbledy Gooker

This was so bad that it spawned the name for the Wrestlecrap worst gimmick, storyline or event award the "Gooker award"

On a personal note though I loved the Gooker :lol

Naked Mideon as stated.

If we are going for forgotten gimmicks say hello to Mordecai.

lived in a boiler room playing with rats (of the four legged kind)

What other kind of rat is there!?

Cheers!

The Randy Savage kind.

Ok since alot of TWO is probably either too young to remember WWF back in 1990 or just weren't watching back then this is The Gobbledy Gookers debut

Now tell me that wasn't the weirdest gimmick ever :P

I was thinking the same thing.:lol

Waylon Mercy. Every time he hit folk, he'd apologise in a southern drawl. I loved it!
