ok I'm sure most people (myself included) have already panned this off as going to be horrible, just a horrible terrible show like that crap that had with Piper and D'Lo Brown a few back right? But I just saw a promotional video for this thing and it looks really really great.

Has nothing to do with Hogan, in general this show looks like its going to be fun to watch.

Check out the clip here and see what you think: http://hulkhogan.com/ Scroll down to 'CHOOSE A VIDEO' and its the 3rd one down.

Goldberg and RVD are in it making appearances which is cool, just looks cool to me. I really cant wait to check it out.

Looks a hell of a lot (how couldn't it?) than the UK Celebrity "Wrestling".

I too want this to show on our side of the atlantic, but I'll just catch it on Youtube or something if it isn't.

I think it starts in the US sometime in late October, so it will probably start here on MTV or one of those channels anytime after that.

I'm interested to see interaction between Hogan and guys like RVD and Goldberg plus whoever else they might bring in, plus Hogan said on Stern than Screetch was really great at grasping the psychology of pro wrestling so I'm looking to see that aswell.

Should be fun.

That looks awesome (anything that gets Brutus Beefcake, A Nasty Boy AND Jimmy Hart in the same show is going to be good) and puts the UK version to shame. And why does it do that? Because it treats wrestling with respect rather than go and make games about it.

Also, was that Butterbean in the Stars 'n' Stripes shorts?

Initially when I heard about this project I dismissed it completely but having watched the trailer for it I've got to agree with other posters on TWO that it does look very good!

I liked the tough enough series when that was being run by WWE and this seems to borrow the basic concept on it but add all-important layers to it which should make it a more entertaining show.

Stuff like actually having live shows each week where the celebrities can put their training into action infront of a live crowd is going to be ten times more effective than telling someone what it's like in the ring and then throwing them in there with no practical experience beforehand.

My personal pick to win is Dennis Rodman because I like the guy and at the end of the day he is a natural athlete who has previous experience in the wrestling industry which should give him an advantage, plus he has the look and charisma to be a natural heel.

Yeah I agree, it reminds me of the boxing series The Contender.

I'm hyped for check this out.

Must admit I was one of those who dismissed this as going to be terrible when the concept first came out, but I have just checked out the trailer it does look alot better then I ever expected it to be, so much so that I am actually looking forwards to the show should it get a UK air date

Eric Bischoff recently spoke with WrestleZone.com about the rumors of a new promotion centered around Hulk Hogan and Bill Goldberg. Bischoff explained that although he can't go into great detail about any negotiations (for obvious reasons), he can say that the rumors being reported are only partially true.

Bischoff and his partner, Jason Hervey, in addition to Hulk Hogan are in talks with CMT and several other companies/networks about the possibility of a new wrestling promotion. They are also talking about taking "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling" on tour as well depending on how it does when it starts airing in October.

However, the major difference between what's true and what's being reported is the idea that the promotion will be focused around Hulk Hogan and specifically, Bill Goldberg. Bischoff said that Goldberg was nice enough to help with the new celebrity show, but is not being mentioned as of now in plans for a potential wrestling company in the future.

Bischoff has stated in many past interviews that he would not be interested in starting a wrestling company that would fall into that same "WWE lite" category as others. He said that at least a dozen people have contacted him (some credible and some not) about starting a new company, but unless there's a new, innovative approach added to the business model and a significant amount of money to work with, he doesn't want to do it.

"Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling" is simply the first step in many steps toward the possibility of a more traditional wrestling company sometime in the future. The idea is to attract both a wrestling audience and a "reality television" audience without offending one or the other.

Offering too little in terms of "reality" could insult your reality fans and offering too little in terms of exposing that side of the business could insult your wrestling fans. Eric Bischoff believes they have found that happy medium with the new CMT show that is set to air on Saturday, October 18th.

Bischoff also encouraged fans to check out Hulk Hogan's site HERE for bios, photos, and more videos on "Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling". The video has the trailers that you may or may not have seen already, but there's a couple more videos there that haven't been put out there yet. You should check them out, a couple of them are quite funny.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Eric Bischoff is indeed in talks with CMT concerning the possible launch of a new wrestling promotion. According to their report, Bischoff is looking into centering a new wreslting promotion around Bill Goldberg and Hulk Hogan, who are both reportedly getting themselves back into ring shape.

There has also been talk of bringing in new, young west coast talent to fill out the roster. Bear in mind these are only talks, and in no way is this a confirmation that Bischoff or CMT have made any type of deal.

I had read quite a few snipets about Goldberg and Hogan both training for a ring return, although assumed TNA/WWE would be where it would happen as a one-off/short term thing.

Could a new promotion based around Hogan and Goldberg last past a few weeks or fan curiosity, even with a decent roster? Getting a wrestling promotion that doesnt look cheap and nasty, and trying to get TV and PPV along with merchandising and all that stuff is a hard thing to do and a long term task...

Still, its interesting.

Press release for the show:

The following is the latest press release for Hulk Hogan's Championship Wrestling that airs October 18th, 2008 on CMT:

CMT GETS READY TO RUMBLE WITH

“HULK HOGAN’S CELEBRITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING”

PREMIERING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18

Legend Hulk Hogan to Lead Celebrity Cast Including

Danny Bonaduce, Todd Bridges, ButterBean, Trishelle Cannatella, Dustin Diamond,

Erin Murphy, Dennis Rodman, Frank Stallone, Tiffany and Nikki Ziering.

Wrestling Experts Eric Bischoff and Jimmy Hart Join Hulk Hogan as Judges

LOS ANGELES " September XX, 2008 " The legendary Hulk Hogan returns to the ring as the host and judge of CMT’s new series HULK HOGAN’S CELEBRITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, premiering Saturday, October 18 at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT on CMT. The cast of 10 celebrity wrestling hopefuls will find themselves put to the test as they master the ring and their competitors during their attempts to turn themselves into professional-quality wrestlers.

Hogan, along with former World Championship Wrestling President Eric Bischoff and professional wrestling manager Jimmy Hart will team up to judge the contestants " including former NBA champion Dennis Rodman, “Bewitched” actress Erin Murphy, Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering, “Different Strokes” actor Todd Bridges, Super Heavyweight boxer ButterBean, reality TV star Trishelle Cannatella, “Saved by the Bell”s Dustin Diamond, actor, boxer and recording artist Frank Stallone, pop sensation Tiffany, and reality TV star and radio host Danny Bonaduce -- as they compete for the title of “Celebrity All Star Heavyweight Champion.” The contestants must all exhibit their top physical and showmanship skills in the ring if they don’t want to be deemed a “Jabroni” (a fake, phony, or fool) by Hulk Hogan and kicked out of the competition.

The contestants will be split into two teams and coached by former professional wrestlers Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake and Brian “Nasty Boy” Knobs. “Team Beefcake” and “Team Nasty” are required to learn three new moves each week and perform in front of a live audience where they are judged on technical ability and showmanship, both as individuals and as team players. Each match will see the two teams fight to prevent their possibility of elimination from the competition. When the match is over, someone will be eliminated and sent home.

As the contestants learn in episode one, performing like a professional wrestler requires intense conditioning. Hulk Hogan sizes each contestant up and gives them their first assignment- to master classic wrestling moves known as “The Clothesline,” “The Forearm Smash,” and the “Kick to the Midsection.” The two teams spend the first couple days practicing with trainers and each other perfecting the intricate choreography, athleticism, and showmanship necessary for the match in front of a live audience. By the time they reach the ring for the first battle, between the screaming crowd and the judges, both teams are as fired up as true wrestling veterans.

“Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling” is created and executive produced by Eric Bischoff and Jason Hervey of Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment as well as Hulk Hogan. Melanie Moreau and Bob Kusbit are executive producers for CMT.

We know Eric has the ideas but the major problem for him is that he would need the financial backing in order to actually make the promotion work, especially in this day in age where everything needs to be flashy and eye catching in order for it to get over.

Im sure that having Hogan and Goldberg would not be cheap aswell, and also i dont think there is enough talent out there at the moment to warrant another promotion.

Still it's interesting to see where this could end up? I some how always wanted to know what sort of impact Bischoff could have on TNA if he was given the ball to run with, lets be honest he turned WCW into a major world wide brand with his ideas and feel like he could do the same with TNA.
