Just seen this on Play.com. Released this coming Friday.

ÂŖ27.99 (I imagine ÂŖ2 more in retail shops in the street), and you get a Game Gear like handheld Genesis preloaded with such classics as Sonic And Knuckles, Shinobi 3, Alex Kidd and Golden Axe.

Seriously worth checking out, I know we have a lot of people who love the old Genesis/MegaDrive, myself included

Anyone else like to see future models with different games?

Am i allowed to crow about Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3, Two Crude Dudes, Story of Thor, Gunstar Heroes and Dynamite Headdy?
E-SWAT is on there as well, meaning I need to have this gizmo.
its a shame i have them already (and pretty much every game they ever released) god bess the internet

Ah yes god bless the internet, however I highly doubt you could take a computer, fire it up and play a bit of sonic on the bus or train. There for this is a cool gimzo.

I wish it was more Game Boy like, I'd love to buy one where I can buy additional cartridges to play.

As for this release:

* Sonic & Knuckles

* Shinobi III - Return Of The Ninja Master

* Alex Kidd (and the enchanted castle)

* Alien Storm

* Altered Beast

* Arrow Flash

* Columns III

* Crack Down

* Decap Attack

* Dr.Robotnik

* E Swat

* Ecco

* Ecco Jr

* Flicky

* Gain Ground

* Golden Axe

* Jewel Master

* Kidd Chameleon

* Sonic Spinball

* Shadow Dancer

Bolded ones are good games, well from what I remember, Sonic Spinball was probably good due to it being Sonic.

I want must have it. My megadrive was apart from the games cube i bought off Inno my only console. It is 23 years old and still going strong

It's not expandable Im afraid, not like the Game Gear was.

Thankfully i still have a working Game Gear with many games, and an adapter to play Master System games

23 years old? You must've had a time machine or something back then, considering they were first avaliable in Europe in 1990. :lol

This handheld is going to be a must-have for me, I can't wait to play some of these games again.

This would be amazing if you could but add on games for it, but for ÂŖ30, you cant expect that and its still a fantastic bargain. The g/f wants one, she was/is a Sega mark.

I'll stick to my proper MegaDrive (It's a MegaDrive II), with the Mega CD II attached. :)

I have heaps of games for it. :)

Sounds ok, obviously if you've got a PSP get the mega drive collection for it as it's far superior.

Ed - Actually scrap that. The only decent game on their is Sonic and Knuckles (and perhaps columns 3 if it's exactly the same as columns 1). And as good as Sonic and Knuckles is, it's not worth paying 30 quid to play as a handheld. All the others may give you a bit of a nostalga feeling, but they sure arent fun or entertaining as I found when i played them on my PSP.

The days of playing a Megadrive whilst others were feasting on the PS1/2 and N64 were great.

Quite disappointed as a kid, when I played Alex Kidd: Enchanted Castle too much till the cartidge overheated.

Is that right? I know I got my first games console when i was 7 1/2 and i'm sure it was the megadrive. What consoles came before that then as i know i was one of the first people to get the megadrive as we got it at midnight one of the first times they opened the stores late to be able to get the games. I remember there were tones of people waiting to get one.

That going to annoyme wondering what the hell i had before the megadrive.

All the computers/consoles i have had.

BBCmasters

Acorn computer

Macintosh

Spectrum

Atari

something then if not megadrive

Megadrive

playstation 1

Nintendo 64

dream cast

playstation 2

Gamescube many many years after it was released.

I have this now on pre-order so very pleased.

Was it the Sega Master System? That came out over here at about 1987. I had the Master System II with Alex Kidd in Miracle World built-in to it, it was awesome.

yes that was it did not like it and was relegated to the attic once the megadrive was bought. Is it sad that in the attic i have a working atari + games, working Spectrum plaus games and a working playstation, nintendo64 and dreamcast with tons of games.

Got one at the weekend.

Feels cheap, horrible plastic shell, nothing like the pictures at all. The buttons for the most part of responsive but the horrible dpad moves just in 4 directions and can be awkward at the best of times.

There's some awesome games on it, such as Sonic Spinball, Sonic and Knuckles, and GoldenAxe amongst some truely underrated classics like Decap Attack and Kid Chameleon. It's a shame though as Sega have a lot more awesome games under their belt than what's on the console. I'd of picked Sonic 2 over any other Sonic game and Streets of Rage is severly missed. There's also no way to add games to it, the 20 you get are all you get.

Not tried the AV hookup to my TV yet, but will later
