Wow, I really hate what the show has become. I know some people never liked it, some people always have, and most people have gotten into it recently, but I'm pretty much an in-between. I got into in 2003, and was a huge fan up until pretty much 2007. I even liked the first half of Season Four, but more for the "WOOOO NEW EPISODES!" factor than the actual quality of the show. From the Season 5 boxset onwards, I think it's been terrible.

Bringing back characters who were funny ONCE may have raised a smile the first time, but they bring the characters back so often now, it's taking the piss. The amount of musicals in the show, EVERY DAMN EPISODE has a long musical moment. Jesus, I know Seth MacFarlane's obsessed with his own voice, but this is far too over the top.

I hate people calling it "OH MY GOD, SO RANDOM!", but that's more of a 2006/2007 complaint, it's died down a fair bit. It's became as bad as new epsidoes of The Simpsons really, only with less good epsidoes to look back on, and I can't even watch them anymore because they remind me too much of the new crap.

And before anybody says "don't like it, don't watch it", trust me, I don't watch it anymore. Still doesn't stop me from making a thread trashing the show, though :xyx

It was coming!

I've never followed it that much, but every time I've watched it I've had a guilty laugh or two.

This show really depresses me. I'm not even really sure why and being that I'm not a wordsmith, I can't exactly put it into words but it just...just...depresses me. It's moved beyond just not particularly liking it (and maybe that came, partly, from the old thing of people telling you so much how good something is, then you watch it and say you don't really like it so then you're treated as less than that sweaty fluff shit you find between your toes after wearing socks and shoes on a hot day so then your resentment towards said something rises even further because it's made you out to be a pr*ck with no taste amongst the 'cool' inner circle of people who love said something. And between that, American Pie, Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler, I'm on the outside looking in on a bunch of different shite people seem to love) into a state of depression overwhelming me whenever I see it anywhere on TV.

Maybe it's just the complete lack of charm and overwhelming nastiness of it or something but it's a pretty sad reflection on the state of the human race that it became so popular.

Anyway, I've grown to hate it, in case I hadn't made that point clear.

Taste, I dislike things I find boring.

Pretty much this, word for word.

I quite enjoy it but it's not the best series on TV. Personally I think that most TV shows with a steady cast of characters like Family guy and The Simpsons have a certain shelf life unlike stuff like Soaps (even though I don't like them personally) Pro Wrestling or the likes of Doctor Who which can chop and change to some extent, then they really aught to be scrapped and both the aforementioned shows have reached that time.
I used to like it but series 4 onwards it's been pretty poor and virtually became a parody of itself. Lack of logical stories, ridiculous amount of in-jokes, and you need an encyclopedia of pop culture to understand everything, it's almost turned into a status check show now to establish what kind of person you have. When you're at that level IMO you're trying harder to be cool, than to be funny, and shows always suffer because of that.
I can't stand the show. The first season was funny but after that it stinks up the joint.
I have the first and second seasons on DVD, and I really enjoyed them, but their the only ones I have seen.

I like Family Guy better than the Simpsons, what's your point?

His point is that you're simply wrong. (Ok.. that's more my point, his point is that TWP seems to think the lesser things are better)

I know everyone around here has a stick up their arse when it comes to "opinions" and everyone must bow down to everyones opinion because they cant be wrong and you must respect them, but not me and not this time.

Futurama is unquestionably superior to both.

To you they are lesser to me they are great so in your words you are wrong.

but it is pointless, as it is down to personal taste.

No, liking TNA over WWE is down to personal taste, your right with that one. But saying Family Guy is better than The Simpsons is simply wrong, it doesnt even warrent thinking about really.

its a different show targeted at a different audience.

Simpson to kids

Family guy to adults

Enter stick up the arse....Saying Family Guy is better than the Simpsons is still an opinion, regardless of whether you agree with it or not. Opinions can neither be right or wrong.

Family Guy IS better than The Simpsons in my opinion, but that really is second to the fact that you are telling someone else that their opinion is wrong. How can that be?

I don't know if its because I am getting old and the youthful funny stuff is passing me by but both Family Guy and The Simpsons have really gone downhill these days

There was a time when The Simpsons would have me in stitches but now I find myself hardly raising a smile at the show, is just not funny anymore to me and that is the same as Family Guy

It used to be really funny but now its just losing that, although Peter fighting Chicken Guy is still the funniest thing on TV when they put it in an episode!
