From Wrestling 101:

Ah, WCW. World Championship Wrestling. At one point the hottest wrestling company the world had ever known. Keep that in mind, however. At ONE point. From the start of the nWo angle, to 1997 Starrcade, WCW had it all. They were untouchable. So why is it they were regarded so highly when it was only a year and a half of good times? The early 90's? Laughable. The late 90's and early 00's? The worst example of pro-wrestling the world has ever known......ok, except for XPW...

After reading that and seeing some of the posts on the forum about wrestling factions, here are a few clips of the Dungeon of Doom :lol

Early 90's WCW was awesome, Flair, Sting, Vader, Foley, "Flyin' Brian Pillman and then later the hollywood blondes. I'd much rather watch that era than anything from their "untouchable" year and a half.

I'd like to get my hands on every episode of Nitro from when the NWO was formed to the NWO 2000 run because they were my favourite group in wrestling and have never been bettered.

Incidentally I actually liked NWO 2000 with Bret as leader.

WHY????
Does MVP ever need a reason to have a somewhat out-there idea involving stables? :lol
With this one he does.

Of course early 90's WCW had some stand-out stuff. The Steiner's 91' tour of ass kickery, Sting, Vader and Foley....but for every awesome match the likes of those put on, you had Robocop, the Guardian Angel, the Beach Blast movie with Cheatum, Chamber of Horrors, Spin the Wheel...the list goes on. Jim Herd, Cowboy Bill Wats, Ole, they were all horrible bookers and figure heads for those running the company from one time to another.

Oh, and I'll get into the nWo in my next article. For my money, there will never be a greater angle or group, than the them.

Why was he called The Yeti, he looks like The Mummy?:lol:lol

I could never stand that fella Sullivan, every time he was on TV he used to make me sick. When I found out the backstage politics involving him it made me feel vindicated in my loathing of him. Complete and utter waste of space.

I enjoyed much of WCW's run full-stop. Even during the nWo era there were many ridiculous angles and characters but the same could be said for WWF during the Attitude era.

I guess that's the beauty of Pro Wrestling.

WHY????

Why does he need to justify his opinions for? a better question DC is why not?

Because the dudes' comment was both amusing and intriguing(sp?).

You should refrain from trying to pick a fight, ignore those many voices in your head my good man.:xyx

Your right, I just find it funny when DC post the same post about me and then does the same thing himself :) pot, kettle, black comes to mind.

WCW was a fantastic promotion,I prefer to remember the good ol days before Russo and co wrecked it.
I loved WCW, but it was ruined before russo got there. His New blood angle was a lot better than the 6 months before. The last really great PPV was Spring Stampede 99. I always thought that Russo gets too much blame for the end of WCW especially as the end of wcw was nothing to do with booking as the ratings (compared to today) was still good. It was down to time warner

Time Warner might have pulled the plug but the Cancer of Russo could not be cured.

:roll That old hat. WCW was in decline since goldberg lost his unbeaten run, Russo couldn't stop what was to come and his millionare club vs New blood angle was pretty good at the start as it was fresh and new. In truth WCW could have easily continued there ratings were that of todays raw or smackdown. It was time warners change of heart that killed WCW. I think WCW was too big too fast. That is why i don't mind TNA taking their time and making baby steps as financially they are going to be better off from it in the long term.

TNA will never be as big as WCW was,so don't try to kid yourself on that one.

Why not? They could be they have the talent. It will take time. but then again WCW had only a few years of profitability otherwise they were losing 30M+ per year not a massively successful company financially. WWF was the far better run company financial becasue they to didn't rush things just to get ratings. TNA business model is sound they are making profit and are progressing with baby steps which is needed in this climate. So no they aren't on WCW level yet but in 5 or 10 years who knows?

I don't want to turn this into a TNA thread but if you think TNA will be as big as WCW which means beating WWE in the ratings and selling out 60,000 arena's then dude go see the nearest doctor because you are deluded.

its not impossible. its unlikely anytime soon. but in ten years who knows? WCW wasn't selling out 60,000 seater arena's 5 years before 1996 either. My point is who knows they could be. but lets not turn this into a TNA thread

I always prefered WCW than WWF even during it so called cancer.

Well anything COULD. Wrestling attendance's could shoot up to average 150,000 per show, robots could be wrestling's next big stars, and Vince McMahon COULD pack in tomorrow and fold the WWE, but it's all incredibly unlikely.

Robots, Vince packing it in. Its not that unlikely its not soon if it does happen 10 to 15 years things change. (I hope :lol) besides for the business it will be great if it happened
