While in the Philippines recently to promote WWE, Batista was asked how much longer he saw himself wrestling. Batista, who just turned 40 this year (although his age has been speculated on for years now), said he had at least one year left and wanted to finish that year strong.

according to wrestleview.com

Good...not as if he is the most irreplaceable talent on the roster because after all he's just a generic big man who wishes he was half the star Bill Goldberg used to be back in WCW.

He's hardly a generic big man. A generic big man is someone like snitsky, who's not remotley over and never has great matches. Batista sometimes has brilliant matches and is one of the most over people in WWE at the moment.

Anyway, the story is very different to your title "i have one year left in me" isn't what he says at all, he says he has a least a year, that could be any number of years.

You obviously have no idea what the word generic actually means. Batista, for all his in-ring limitations (which he covers by being a cool-as-f*ck ass-kicker), is as far from generic a big-man wrestler can get while remaining a big-man wrestler.

Lashley= Generic Big man

Batista= Non Generic Big man

Even lashley wasn't a generic big man. I had a bit of a wrestling back ground which made him stand out a bit from the generic big man move set.
Okay perhaps the 'generic' label was a tad unfair but a better word would be 'boring'.
I suspect that this 1 year left will actually be several years left to be honest, its like when Michasels returned to the ring and said he had 1 good match left in him, couple of years later he is still in the ring
What's boring about him exactly? i think he's one of the more exciting big men. Do you just not like big guys?

I don't think he's either boring or generic. Big Dave is one of the most over on the roster. He'll be around in some capacity for awhile to come.

I liked him when he was a monster heel and when he was starting to wise-up to Triple H whilst in Evolution.

If he was allowed to show his intelligence a lot more in interviews and his sense of humor it would be better than nearly always being 'mr intense'.

Meh, i hated him as a monster heel. That WAS a generic big man.

He does occassionally show a bit of humour, but he a cool power house, that's his gimmick and it works, just listen to the crowd go nuts, that's what its all about in the end.

No question he is very popular but when I look at him I see someone who if he talks it should be using the wittisism he has shown in the past and when he wrestles,like a squash machine with solid,impressive power moves,guys like Batista don't need arm-locks and submission holds.

Unless he has his working boots on, which is extremely rare, Batista is just a big boring guy who has to be carried to good matches but who has benefitted from a big push and being in the right place at the right time. It doesn't hurt that he has an aura of coolness about him that makes him appealing to people.

He rarely looks good in the ring though, and he has never once hit his finisher without it looking like sh*t. Stop landing on one leg, dickhead.

I fully agree with that, when Batista feels he is in the spotlight or has something to prove (such as with Taker when he felt they should have gone on last at a PPV) he is very casual about his matches and doesn't give all he could to hold up his end of the match

Agreed, I think a wrestler should pick a finisher he can actually do correctly he has one of the worst sit down powerbombs i have ever seen he brings them down to far in front of him.

The one thing i regret about this statement is that didn't happen occur a year ago. Big Dave will not be missed in the big picture

How long you guys been liking Batista for? I must have missed the memo.

Batista is one of te most boring people to watch. I can't understand why people can look forward to seeing him when they know they are about to witness a terrible match. Batista is gonna be around a lot longer than just a year, trust me on that one.

He's bland and he's a stuttering fool on his promos. Watch them, can he not say a single sentance without tripping over his steroid enhanced tongue? A whole year left is too much. He's that over and that significant I had forgotten he was gone.

That's not quite true, he did it fine when he started using it.

But they obviously don't know they're about to witness a terrible match, he's had some MOTY candidate in his short time in the business which is more than i can say for most other big men.

It's true that Batista does need to be carried to have a top match, but that still alot better than alot of the guys on the roster that can't even have an amazing match when they're in their with the best.

The truest testament to Batista : until you mentioned him, I'd forgotten he was out...

The guy is over, and can be carried to a decent match by a good opponent. At least he has something going for him, which is more than some WWE wrestlers do.

PS : That really should be called the Craptista Bomb... or maybe the Botchtista Bomb...

As a fan of Batista, I can only say that I hope he sticks around. Then again, maybe a "special appearance" type schedule would be a good idea for him, that way he can continue wrestling, but not full time.
