For all the shooting, smashing, slamming, speeding, ripping, exploding, and general chaos that usually ensues in computer games, what games do you play when you want to chill and spend some time away from gunning down aliens and saving universes?

 

I love Shadow of the Colossus to just kick back and chill out to. I just find trotting around on your horse (safe in the knowledge that nothing's waiting to kick your ass) rather relaxing.

 

Rez is always cool for a late night chill out session, as is any of the Katamari games. (rolling up stuff FTW)

 

So yeah, over to you guys. Do you even like chill out games? And if you do, which ones do you like?

I usually don't chill out when playing games, just use my frustration to fuel my game so to speak. If it's getting to the point where I'm growling when I die, I turn the game off and go back to it later.

 

Two Worlds (although unbelievably rubbish) was nice and relaxing though. Just the total freedom of doing anything.

I almost mis read the title of the thread and was going to say my big boy but then i saw it was about games so it would be PES although oddly it sometimes has the opposite effect

Anyway, what do I play to relax? The opening moments of "No Russian" in Modern Warfare 2. Hoo-ray! :)

To relax, I normally play a simple game like Tetris or the first Broken Sword.

God of War or Painkiller

Any little, mess-about arcade game, like Peggle or N+. Though, eventually, N+ makes me tear out my eyes in frustration so that normally does a poor job of chilling me out. Bloody Ninjas.

Pic-Pic for the DS is the most chilled game with a great relaxing soundtrack.

Solitaire, really. Windows 7 version is delightful. I can still go 3 hours on Solitaire, no bother.

Recently, I've found Madden 10 to be mindlessly therapeutic.

Boogie Bunnies - I defy anyone to take life seriously whilst playing this (especially to a Saliva / Motorhead etc soundtrack)

 

Dave: have you tried Freecell? I love that game (most of the time)

Not played freecell, I've been playing some Popcap Mahjong games that are more relaxing than pot.
