Best Mic Skills

Hi everyone,

I thought this might be an interesting topic especially since we've had a lot of talk recently about how WWE seems to consider this more important than actual wrestling ability (which personally I think is nonsense, it has its place of course but the focus is supposed to be wrestling). Anyway, it'd be interesting to hear who you reckon to be the top 5, or however many you feel appropriate to mention, guys you've heard on the mic in wrestling.

Mine are:

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Randy Savage

Ted DiBiase

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Chris Jericho (OK so I couldn't stick to five but I couldn't leave out Jericho!)

In the 'they got stale' category I would place:

Hogan

The Rock

A special mention must also go to Jim Hellwig a.k.a. the Ultimate Warrior as he may well have been quite good on the mic but I couldn't be sure as I didn't have the advantage of a Warrior to English dictionary or thesaurus!

Either Kurt Angle or the Rock. Kurt Angle can draw heat excellently whereas on the other hand I have never seen anyone as comfortable on the mic as the Rock, who can cut excellent face promos. Both are golden on the mic.

Eddie Guerrero's really underated on the mic, plus Chavo does a good job in the straight man role.

Personally I always loved Rhyno's promos. Very intense and he actually sounded like a monster heel unlike guys like Batista.

Steve Corino is awesome on the mic too, definately one of the funniest wrestlers in the business, shame he cant transfer this to his work as a colour commentater.

The Rock just got very repetitive with all his catchphrases. They were fun to chant along to the first couple of hundred times but then he just went down hill.
