Posted September 1, 201113 yr With no information on the next Fallout game, other than they are going to do one, what would you do for the next one? We have had cities in ruins, deserts, swamps and even space. Whats left for something different? Underwater? Too Bioshock. Forrest? Maybe. Europe? What would be different there? The Moon? You're confined to a moonbase until you get a sealed suit so you can go onto the lunar surface?
September 1, 201113 yr How about the Underworld? I dont know, you fall off a cliff and begin a new life. :)
September 1, 201113 yr Author Thats... very different to the Fallout theme really. In fact its probably more suited to the Elder Scrolls series. Or a new game entirely.
September 1, 201113 yr Underwater? Too Bioshock. Also the water is poisoned with radiation. Forrest? Maybe. Too Elder Scrollsy. Besides, in nuclear fallout, there would be no forests. Unless the fallout happened in a land with a billion of "Harold" (that dude with the tree growing out of his head from Fallout 3). Europe? What would be different there? Not much, there's not much more that you could do considering after a Fallout, everything is wastelands anyway. The Moon? You're confined to a moonbase until you get a sealed suit so you can go onto the lunar surface? Why would someone use nuclear missiles to attack the moon? :lol And yeah, I don't know what else they can do with it either.
September 1, 201113 yr I hated Fallout 3, I think I'm in the minority :lol You're not entirely alone, I hated it too. I liked the story and the setting, but I thought the actual gameplay wasn't any fun at all. As I said though, I really like the setting, so I'm interested as to where it goes just for that curiosity.
September 1, 201113 yr Author Also the water is poisoned with radiation. Maybe not the deep oceans. Too Elder Scrollsy. Besides, in nuclear fallout, there would be no forests. Unless the fallout happened in a land with a billion of "Harold" (that dude with the tree growing out of his head from Fallout 3). Not played New Vegas then? :P Why would someone use nuclear missiles to attack the moon? :lol Well if theres a base there then they wanted rid of it. Or maybe not quite nukes, could have been anything you want to imagin (redirected astroids, a crashed ship spewing radiation, experiments gone wrong ect).
September 1, 201113 yr Maybe not the deep oceans. Oceans are still water, they'd still be contamined. Not played New Vegas then? :P I have played. Multiple times. I've yet to find a forest in the game. I know there's one in 3, but I haven't seen one in NV. Well if theres a base there then they wanted rid of it. Or maybe not quite nukes, could have been anything you want to imagin (redirected astroids, a crashed ship spewing radiation, experiments gone wrong ect). Why would there be a base? Aliens? Sure, but if I recall correctly, this is pretty much pre-Moon landing Earth we're talking about. They'd have no technology to do it.
September 1, 201113 yr Author Oceans are still water, they'd still be contamined. Not for certain. The deep oceans could still be clean with just patches of radioactive bits. I dont think they have ever said that all the water everywhere is contaminated... have they? The Fallout wiki says this about the world The Atlantic ocean appears to have turned into a nuclear waste of an ocean, as well as the Indian, Arctic and Pacific oceans. Scandinavia and parts of western Europe appear to have been bombed. The USSR also seems to have been bombed, despite being allies with China, or could have been secretly nuked by United States due to post-Cold War distrust. Greenland looks icy and appears to be unscathed. All of Asia and the Middle East looks icy, possibly due to nuclear climate problems or the global cooling theory, and Antarctica looks jet black, due to toxic waste in the oceans intoxicating the ice. The rest of the world's status is unknown as it can't all be seen. I have played. Multiple times. I've yet to find a forest in the game. I know there's one in 3, but I haven't seen one in NV. Nera Jacobstown. Ok its not as foresty as Oblivion, but it certainly is heavily wooded for the game (from what I remember, I lost my copy a few months back). Why would there be a base? Aliens? Sure, but if I recall correctly, this is pretty much pre-Moon landing Earth we're talking about. They'd have no technology to do it. Its the future as it was predicted in the 50s. They already had space ships (example the USS Quetzel) and it was indicated that the Enclave was ready to colonise other planets. However you're right, they didnt have any space bases. But you could have one that was TOP SECRET, or set up by aliens and then left to ruin. Or some shite like that. Coem on, think outside the box. :P
September 2, 201113 yr The same thing again, but set in Africa or Eurasia, so you can have different factions. Frankly, I want African supermutants who use AK47's and Asian cyber-ninja supermutants who use throwing stars and kung fu. And Eastern European supermutants who look just like a T800, wear sunglasses, and go around saying "I'll be back" while trafficking humans and drugs. Instead of dogs, you could have mutated lions or tigers (depending on the continent) etc. Edited September 2, 201113 yr by etz
September 3, 201113 yr Fallout 3. Great idea, shame about the game ending bugs. They really just need to rid it of the bugs. I personally preferred the off the wall, black humour of the first two games.
September 5, 201113 yr Mmmm, I agree, get rid of the bugginess and I wouldn't put Fallout down after getting 3/4 of the ay through the game. I usually end up going searching for new things and easter eggs and when it stops turning up, I tend to get bored, dunno how they can solve that. I think sometimes the whole interaction thing (good and evil) is a bit overdone and you spend half the time making decisions to be good or bad, perhaps if it wasn't so keyed around that perhaps? Consequences rather than a meter to tell you how good or bad you are and a few people treating you differently.
September 5, 201113 yr The main thing about Fallout 1 & 2 was that exploration wasn't the huge trek it is in 3 & New Vegas. You'd click on a map, wait a minute and then BAM~! New place, and none of the tedious trekking that is mostly uneventful (Apart from Radscorpions. ALWAYS Radscorpions. Oh and a few Enclave bitches.) EDIT: Oh and in Fallout 1, RANDOM TARDIS > Most.
September 5, 201113 yr Author I cant say I ever found it uneventful. Hate the bloody radscorpions though. :lol Oh, but New Vegas nuked the fridge.
September 6, 201113 yr Author You take the Wild wasteland perk, then its slightly southeast of Goodsprings, along the road out of town.
