The most important week in the gaming calender, E3 is just starting in LA, so keep peeled for the latest from the show here.

XBOX:

The company announced it will be partnering with four new video services, all of which will be available for Xbox 360. These partnerships include Nickelodeon, Paramount, Machinima and Univision.

Nike announced that Nike Plus is headed to Xbox 360. Kinect will allow players to receive instant feedback and use the training methods recommended by Nike as they train.

Microsoft announced Forza Horizon, the next installment of its Forza Motorsports franchise, will hit stores on October 23, 2012.

Microsoft unveiled at its E3 2012 press conference the next Gears of War title, titled Judgment. The announcement trailer confirmed a lot of the details that had already spread around the internet, showing Damon Baird fighting off Locust enemies with a Lancer weapon. Gears of War Judgment is set for 2013

Wii-U:

The new homeface for the Wii U will be the Miiverse, a social network almost screen that shows other friend's Miis and what they are doing. Online is set to be a bigger part of Wii-U given Wii's lack of online play.

The two circle pads on the Wii-U controller are gone and replaced by real analog sticks instead. The revamped tablet/controller hybrid also features a special placement pad for games much like Skylanders, and a TV button to switch between watching game action on the TV or the Wii tablet.

A classic style controller will also be released. It does not had the tablet built in. In addition the Wii U will ship initially in white and black.

Multi-Platform:

Ubisoft revealed Splinter Cell: Blacklist today at Microsoft’s E3 press conference. In this entry of the Splinter Cell series, Sam Fisher returns and is placed into the dangerous region along the Iran-Iraq border.

PC/Mobile:

Peter Molyneux has revealed Curiosity, the first project from his new company 22 Cans. The project is an app that features a giant black cube players will tap to break into.

The cube will actually be made up of thousands of smaller cubes, each of which is being tapped into by other Curiosity players. Curiosity will be the first of 22 “experiments” he forms under the 22 Cans monkier. It will hit PC and mobile.

Xbox 360:

At Microsoft’s E3 2012 press conference today the company announced a new Xbox SmartGlass product.

The technology allows users to sync their entertainment viewing across multiple devices. Users can begin watching a movie on their tablet or smartphone, pause at any time, and resume on their Xbox when they get home.

Microsoft also showed how content creators can use Xbox Smart Glass to display complimentary information on their smart phone or tablet alongside their television. Examples include watching Game of Thrones on your television and having a realtime map on your phone or tablet updating character's positions as they move from city to city throughout the episode.

Also,

Today at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, the company revealed that its very own browser – Microsoft Internet Explorer – will be coming to Xbox 360.

Xbox 360’s iteration of the browser is designed to be the first easy-to-use browser on any game console, and will be integrated with both Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, as well as Kinect. Microsoft’s recently announced SmartGlass will also be fully compatible with 360’s iteration of MSIE.

Microsoft Internet Explore for Xbox 360 will be available this fall.

Yep, THQ is in a horrible state. The WWE franchise amongst a couple others like Saint's Row is all that's keeping them afloat at the moment. Contract can't hold up if a company folds. I can see WWE 13 possibly being the last THQ WWE game made. That said I've no real opposition to the franchise and license going elsewhere so long as they continue with an annual simulative release with a good developer. AKI we're lookin' at you.

PS3/Vita:

The press conference started with an exclusive, the new Quantic Dreams (Heavy Rain dev) new game Beyond: Two Souls. I'll get the trailer up at some point.

PlayStation+ is under new focus. In June alone Sony is giving the opportunity to download an array of titles for free, including inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Saint's Row 2. This follows market research that PS+ users wanted bigger titles for their buck. The conference also gave everyone in the room a years free PS+

Call of Duty: Black Ops is coming to PlayStation Vita... little more was revealed.

More cross platform play is planned for PS3 and Vita including cross controller play, the ability to use the Vita as a controller for the PS3... yes, they've been keeping tabs on the Wii-U it seems.

Sony announced a new deal with HTC to bring PlayStation certified range of HTC phones out. This is the first 3rd party deal Sony have made of this sort. An exclusive PS Store will allow users to download titles onto their phones. Touch screen phones will feature on screen control pads.

They showed off God of War Ascension. Exactly as it seem, it will be a prequel.

Sony are launching a new augmented reality game featuring the works of JK Rowling. The trailer was so long winded and boring, again I'll put it up at some point if anyone really gives a crap.

The conference finished with Sony showing the new Naughty Dog title, The Last of Us. Think I am Legend, and thats half way to what the game is. It's looking to be a big exclusive and should hopefully keep up the momentum and name Naughty Dog have built with the Uncharted series... who remembers Crash Bandicoot?

More to come through the week, including WWE 13 and Codemasters F1 2012

Available from today to download for free for all US PlayStation Plus Subscribers (Not yet confirmed if this will be the same across regions as UK PS Store is updated on Wednesday afternoons):

Free Games:

inFAMOUS 2 – June 5th

Little Big Planet 2 – June 5th

Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One – June 5th

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – June 5th

Just Cause 2 – June 5th

Saints Row 2 – June 5th

A few titles there that I'd really like to play. Saints Row 2 being the main one, and LBP2 as I enjoyed the first game a lot. I liked inFamous, and have the Festival of Blood follow up but have yet to play it.

Following on from the last post, this is what us UK PS+ subscribers got for free today:

Virtua Fighter 5

Warhammer 40000: Space Marine

Chime Super Deluxe

Darksiders

Oddworld: Strangers Wrath

Outland

Renegade Ops

LittleBigPlanet 2

Motorstorm: Apocolypse

inFamous 2

So no Tomb Raider, Just Cause, Ratchet and Clank or Saint's Row 2. The exclusion of the last one probably the one I was most gutted about, but Darksiders and Motorstorm are games I'd of wanted to play anyway. The list felt a bit lacking when I saw today on the PS Store, as we get 10 games for US' 12, but we also have last months titles still for download for free for another month... the likes of Ricochet HD, Wakeboarding, Magic Orbz etc.

Considering thats £200 of games (based on prices on PS Store) I suppose it's not a bad deal. inFamous and Warhammer each retail online on the Store for Download at £50 each, and this Warhammer includes the elite bundle too. With some better titles like this, the £40 annual price tag of PS+ is suddenly really starting to be worth getting.
