Segments that should have never happened

I was watching the New Years Raw with my kids and let them stay up to watch the ball drop and all that good stuff. I have to say that i was uncomfortable as a father watching the skit with Mae Young and Hornswoggle. I know they are trying to reference the hand skit with Mark Henry and all that from the attitude era, but I have to say my kids were completely confused. I just think those types of skits are completely unneccessary from even an entertainment aspect. Not only that, trying to convince me that a 89 year old woman is suddenly gonna give birth to a midget on live TV seems slightly more offensive than a curse word here and there or a middle finger hand gesture but yet WWE slaps a PG rating on it anyways. I know this is not the only moment that WWE has pulled these kinds of skits but am I wrong to say it was kinda embarrassing to witness? Also, what are some these other segments from the past that m,ay have done the same thing. Some I agree are for a comedic performance and some work to an extent, but this last stunt was utterly worthless, tasteless, and screamed jerry springer.

Everything involving DX from the mid-2000's onwards. Absolutely unwatchable, frat-boy, self-ammusing, "You're all idiots for watching us", smugness.

That Mae Young one was so terrible, most weeks there are parts where I wonder who this is supposed to appeal to or amuse, and every second Mae was giving birth is a second that could be used giving someone who needs it a go on the mic (I don't think every entertainment backstage segment should be pulled in favour of giving guy a chance to talk because of course that's the point of the show, but there's no way things like that Mae sketch should make it to TV)

When Heidenreich teamed with Animal to form the new LOD, they were fueding with MNM at the time, when Nitro & Mercury were escaping through the crowd, Nitro had a mic and said something like "Why isn't Hawk here? Oh yeah.. because he's dead!", something along those lines, shouldn't have happened.

All of the 'Vince mocks JR to get off' stuff fits in here, since it serves no storyline purpose whatsoever and is just Vince literally amusing himself with his expensive TV production toys.

Damn...got a YouTube link to that anywhere?

Insulting dead wrestlers is fair game in my book. It's entirely designed to make you hate the comment and the person saying.

Worked shoots in the main are a waste of time with a few exceptions such as Heyman at One Night Stand.

Personally and segments that rely totally on a face wrestler being freaked out by a slightly gay scenario is worthless in my book, especially given the general nakedness and body contact that goes on. It's just terribly pastiche. Oppose that to someone like Punk as a heel telling someone they are a homo with a faux hawk which works because he's a heel who should say terrible things to jerks in the crowd.

Really? I think it's been great so far :lol Up to March / April 2000 currently. Heel Triple H is brilliant. X-Pac and Road-Dogg are great too.

That thing with Rosie O'Donnell I think, there Vince was at ringside and the crowd were all chanting TNA. That was drivel. All the Mae Young/Pregnant crap from the Attitude Era and now. 99% of anything WWE has put on TV since 2005.

I always thought the val venus me choppy choppy yo peepee was ridiculous and absurd. Yup 4 chinese guys hacking off a pornstars pool cue is a bit over the top.

Also burying paul bearer in cement i believe in 2004 was absolutely ridiculous

As other people pointed out, I said mid-2000's onwards. The original DX in 97/98 was absolutely amazing, and late 90's/early 00's version had moments of greatness too. The later-day DX had good matches (sometimes), but their backstage segments were just so self-satisfied to the point of being offensive. It was just two juvenile middle-aged men amusing each other at everyone else's expense and basically daring you to change the channel because, wah, turns out people don't want to watch the Triple H Show so f*ck EVERYONE. Horrible, horrible television.

Japanese, YOU RACIST! Yeah, that segment was dreadful in a creative way, because it was just so silly, but, for some reason, it never offended me as much as the category of segments I'd put later-day DX in, which is the category of segments motivated entirely by selfishness and self-ammusement.

Vince's obsessions with Rosie O'Donnell, Jim Ross and that basketball guy go in there too, along with Oklahoma in WCW, Hogan/Jarrett at, I think, Bash at the Beach, Kevin Nash being the first guy to beat Goldberg, The Main Event Mafia, etc.

Stuff like that will offend me more than mild racism and general silliness any day.

Kurt Angle hating blacks, Vince McMahon saying nigger and such stuff isn't really convenient or Kurt Angle wanting bestiality sex from Sharmell. It really doesn't offend me as much but it's just that "...Okaaaaaay, moving on" I get after watching such stuff. Edited by Shaun2J

Point taken i agree they were korean and for the most part very entertaining. I remember a feud where bradshaw was basically just allowed to take their heads off for a few weeks which got me some good laughs.

The dx reunion run in 2006 was horrible and embarrassing and it really hurt alot of the development of the young guys in that time frame.

I would also like to point out that david arquettes WCW championship win an embarrassment.
