Microsoft has announced a "slimmer and quieter" model of its Xbox 360 console at E3 2013.

The revised version of the current-generation system appears to feature the same internals as its predecessor, but sports an improved design.

Microsoft has pledged to continue supporting the Xbox 360, with "hundreds of new games" still to be released during the remainder of its lifecycle.

The company also confirmed that Xbox Live Gold subscribers are to receive two free games per month, bringing the service in line with the rival PlayStation Plus platform.

Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3 have been named as the first free titles for Gold members.

World of Tanks, Dark Souls 2 and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood were also announced for Xbox 360 at E3.

That free games deal is actually pretty awesome. Problem is, won't the shitty hard-drive fill up in about two months? Mine tends to give up after about five demos, let alone two full games.

Yeah I would think so, a game usually is between 7/8 GB.
Fable 3 is free to download on Xbox right now as well.

XBox One has a price. $499 in the US, £429 in the UK.

In case anyone's wondering, $499 is £320. If you're in the UK and thinking of getting one you're being ripped off.

It's coming in November as well, so they'll most likely get the jump on Sony.

EDIT: Just been confirmed for Europe as €499, which is £424. Microsoft are going to need to explain why the US have it so much cheaper.

That's always been the way with consoles though; they are never priced at a true currency-converted rate.

No technology is really. A new iPhone in Britain is about £400 more than the exact same model in America.

Britain tends to be at the higher end for average prices of things, especially in relation to America, where technology tends to be super, super cheap thanks to the fact that they tend to be "making" it all (wink wink) and have very low taxes.

EDIT: Slightly less ridiculously, an iPad in America is £65 less expensive than one in Britain, so, whilst Britain tends to always be more expensive, there's not real pattern to exactly how much more expensive.

Yeah if we were going to not buy it because of the currency conversion discrepancy, we'd never buy anything here in the UK. We've been taking it up the ass for years on that.

Not for a very long time I'd say mate, everything can be flashed it time but I would think M$ really want to combat and destroy the pirate games industry.

That'd explain the "log in once a day" thing, I don't like it still and probably will get a PS4 only but I have a bit more sympathy for Microsoft's position.

Saw a short preview of Suda 51's new game "Killer Is Dead", it has a boss fight with the MC on a motorcycle fighting a Yakuza boss riding a tiger... yeah.

Sympathy? They didn't have to put the online required in their console, bit more security to stop them being flashed rather than making silly things like this.

The Xbox fanboys will still buy it, but Sony has owned this E3 and certainly the PS4 is looking a much better prospect for the future and next gen console race.

I did find the digs in the Sony conference pretty funny though, they knew what they were doing. I've got a PS4 preordered.Xbox emailed me to preorder a Limited Edition Xbox One. I deleted the email.

That boy's a hell of a promo.
It's a good gimmick, I'm just wondering if that's a shoot nose booger.
I'm probably going to end up buying both due to the exclusives on both platforms, but I'm more impressed with the PS4 at this point. Not only is it cheaper, it seems more like a game console, rather than a TV Entertainment hub.

The way I see it is the main thing that companies do for security is run checks on machines when they log on to the online service and brick ones that have been modified (which sucks for people who want to do legit homebrew stuff with machines but serves the thieves right) but that obviously hasn't made too great of a difference. So now it's a case of "log in with a modded machine you get bricked, don't log in, you get bricked" which is really heavy handed and hurts people without a good internet connection but presumably they think the piracy is that big of a problem, though I hope that they make reactivation easy and free of charge.
