Da-dadada-dada-da-dada-dada-daaaaaa, da-da-daDA-da-dada-dada-dadaaaaaa...

Just to make Maxx feel better, let's talk about American sports. I don't know what sports people follow, so we can split this thread up into smaller ones as conversations take off.

For starters, does anyone here watch American sports, and, if so, who's your teams?

I support;

MLB - New York Mets

NFL - New York Giants

NBA - New York Knicks

NHL - New York Islanders / Toronto Maple Leafs

MLS - Toronto FC

It's all about the NFL for me in american sports and in the NFL I'm a Vikings fan by default (my best bud got me into the sport and he supports them) I do however ridiculous it may seem, love the packers and the 85 bears.

For the sake of conversation though I'd say in basketball I'm a Bulls(LOL!) fan because Space Jam

Ice Hockey the Red Wings because John C Mcginley

Baseball I don't really have one but as I can only think of 4 teams I'll say the Mets because John did too and I'm too lazy to look into it.

In college football I'm all about Boise State, blue turf and shizz :lol

Such a dear sweet boy. You get all my horror and conspiracy theory memorabilia when I die. Maybe even the mask. Maybe.

Why, yes, John "#Hashtag" Hancock, I do watch American sports as I myself am America(for those of you fools, jobbers, foreigners, communists and immigrants that were unaware) and I enjoy/support the following teams

MLB - Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Indians

NFL - Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, and the New York Football Giants! When I get nostalgic for childhood it's pre Joe Thiesmann broken leg(hate Lawrence Taylor to this day) Washington Redskins, my childhood favorite.

NBA - The Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics kinda. Not much of a fan.

NHL - AVALANCHE BABY! I also like the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks

MLS - Never seen a game of this and without googles couldn't tell you the name of another team besides the Colorado Rapids. So it's them I guess.

I must now hate all of your guts.

College Football I'm a Michigan Wolverines fan since I was a kid. I also like the Ohio St. Buckeyes and Arkansas Razorbacks. I don't mind Boise State as long as they're not at home. That blue turf is terrible. It's worse than the six sided ring.

College everything, I support the Gators, because my first ever memory of being in America is seeing their merchandise all over Orlando Airport.

Also, you are mistaken, I hate Joe Thiesmann's leg for ruining poor LT's otherwise spotless reputation.

Theismann would be remembered today as the greatest of all time if that cocaine fueled ogre hadn't jumped the snap count like the asshole he is and ruined his career. I seriously think that incident scarred me as a child. Go to about :49.

Kinda makes me wonder why I'm a Giants fan today. There's some deep seeded psychological issues I think I need to deal with.

MLB - Los Angeles Galaxy

NFL - Green Bay Packers

NBA - New York Knicks/Orlando Magic I do not really support a particular team but always check these two teams results.

NHL - Dont have a team will watch any match mainly for the fights. I do not get all the rules so never got to the point of supporting one team although do support USA in the Olympics.

MLS - New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox My four American friends were split 50/50 on who to support so as we watched the matches together we watched both so I now support both.

College Football - Notre Dame mainly due to the film Rudy.

The biggest American Sport I follow is the NFL, and I was actually going to make a thread this week for the new season if someone doesn't do so. I've only recently gotten into NFL the last couple of years, but really fell in love with it extremely quickly and now its one of my favoruite things to do - Sunday night in, Pizza and the game. Bliss.

My team, which I picked via this very forum after consulting my American colleagues is the *cough* reigning Superbowl Champions the Baltimore Ravens! :D

I'm also a massive football fan, so I try and keep up with the MLS, my team being DC United.

And recently I've been trying out a bit of Hockey, as a friend of mine is a big fan and it does seem like the type of thing I'd be into, and my team is the Washington Capitals.

I don't really keep up with American Sports anymore, but the half of my family who lives in the states have drilled it into me that I must support:

NBA - NY Knicks (although my aunt keeps trying to talk me into getting into the Brooklyn Nets now they've left New Jersey)

NHL - NY Rangers (Boo Hancock & the Islanders, boo!!)

NFL - NY Giants (you may be starting to sense a theme here)

MLB - NY Mets (ALWAYS the Mets, and NEVER the Yankees, or I may give my Grandad a heart attack)

I'm into NFL (Pittsburgh Steelers) more than anything, and I'm very much looking forward to the start of the season tonight. In MLB I follow the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox.

As for reasons why, I bought my first Madden game in 2005 and the Steelers drafted me, that got me to know their players and they ended up winning the Superbowl that season. The Red Sox won the first World Series I watched in 2004, the White Sox won the second world series I watched in 2005 including the longest ever World Series game which I watched every innings of.

NBA and NHL I don't really follow or watch at all, if I had to choose I'd go for the Penguins for Lemieux/Crosby and the Pittsburgh connection, and NBA would be the Lakers due to me playing as them on a Game Boy game I had.

I'd love to watch more college football but it's just so hard to keep up with over here that it makes it very difficult to have a decent understanding of it.

I did one of those surveys the other week where you answer a bunch of questions and based on your answers they give you a American Sports team to support. I ended up with Orlando Magic.

But I do genuinely like the San Francisco Giants, even took in a game at AT&T Park last Summer. I'm also pretty keen on the NY Rangers, because basically they're called Rangers and play at the Garden whats not to like?

NFL is a tricky one for me, I wanted to like the 49ers but just can't. My friend Karen Used to work at Heinz Field and Is a big Steelers fan so I think from now on I'm going with those guys.

I've got ESPN now, so along with Sky I have all the American sports I want :)

Figured I should also mention I have a soft spot for old school NY Jets. But that's mainly because my Uncle bought me one of the old school green long sleeve jerseys when I was kid, and it was my absolute favourite piece of clothing.

I'm trying to find one at the moment, but all the jerseys I can find are either short sleeve, or don't have the cool white rings on the sleeves.

I do really like American sports, but honestly without loving any of them, largely because I don't get to watch them as often as I like. I do like Basketball, Football and Ice Hockey, and have seen a few games over the years including Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Coyotes and LA Lakers.

Most of the teams I support are the Arizona lot, largely due to living there as an exchange student.

MLB - Arizona Diamondbacks. Never really like baseball at all, and to be honest don't have much time for it now, but out of all the sports I really got in to during my 2001 in Arizona, baseball was the big one. This was largely down to the Diamondbacks winning the World Series against the Yankees, and the dramatic, tense manner of the final match. Suddenly I "got" baseball :P. Still look out for their results today.

NFL - Arizona Cardinals. I realise that in the grand scheme of things these guys are a load of tosh, but every now and again they get someone really really great playing for them (probably due to the fact they usually get one of the first picks in the draft :P) but they never hold on to them for very long.

Special mention to the Denver Broncos. My new second team.

NBA - Bleugh, none really. I just like the sport as a whole. Put a gun to my head and make me choose and I'd say either the Phoenix Suns, Orland Magic, Miami Heat or LA Lakers. Mainly because they have the best players, or used to. I remember the days of Shaq at the Magic and saw him live in 1994.

NHL - Phoenix Coyotes. Saw these play live a few times in 2001. Used to have an absolutely stuning home kit, but have since changed it in to something more "corporate". Boo!

MLS - No one really. I've seen the Rapids play a couple of times, and Thierry Henry plays for the Red Bulls, so I'd happily watch them. I also like the fact that Robbie Keane plays in the MLS.

College - ASU Sun Devils! Be that Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, whatever. I dated a girl from the ASU volleyball team because I had a British accent. :xyx.

Cheers!

Don't give in! They don't even wear blue, they're pretenders to the throne and must be sent back to whence they came. Also, you hear that the Islanders are moving to Brooklyn next season too? They'll be sharing the same arena with the Nets.

The only American sport I watch at all is baseball. If I'm awake in the morning at all (no guarantee) then I watch a ball game, since that is when they are on my time. I don't have a team to support yet, although I tend to see a lot of Cardinals games for some reason so I know their players the best.

I watch the Super Bowl too, but that's it.

The Chicago Bulls are the closest thing America has to Manchester United (in the bad ways), but every other Chicago time tends to be quite liked.
