I'll probably buy it at some point soon, first I'll wanna have a look at what this 3D match engine is like, because in my experience with manager games 3D engines are usually rubbish.

It's 2D, KJ.

Anyway, I got the game on Friday (Waiting outside WS Smith on Sauchiehall Street for 20 mins before the shop opened, and I ran like a madman towards the game section, paranoid that they'll only have 1 or 2 copies. When I get there, I see 2 big shelves full of CM4 boxes. Still, at least I impressed the staff there with my determination and love for Champ Man). I don't think there's much difference from CM3, to be honest. Sure, there's a new layout, 2D match engine and you can offer players to clubs, but that's it really. It's nice to have the updated version, but you're not really missing an awful lot if you stick with last year's version.

Maybe I'm stupid, but I don't seem to be able to find an editor for the game. Has anyone else tracked it down?

An editor is pretty vital considering that in 3 months the team data will of changed from summer transfers not to mention relagation/promition and European qualification.

what are the new options?

i MIGHT buy it depending on what's new (i've played previous champ manager games....but i ended up taking them back for various reasons)

I'm an avid fan of CM.

However, I thinks its disgraceful that the manuafacture's actually say the game is not worth playing without a patch. I'm afraid thats disgusted, especially as the long delay was to make sure it avoided this.

I think it is excellent. I haven't played it too much but I really do like what I have seen so far. When I played the demo I was a bit wary of the 2D engine but I really like it now. It makes the game a lot more tactical I think and you can pinpoint where mistakes are being made, who is making them and where you can improve things. Gets the thumbs up from me.

I will buy CM4 ON ONE CONDITION, can everyone with the following specs:

1. AMD Processor with Windows 98 from TIME

Will that WORK with the RETAIL version of CM4, I only ask because I have got the demo and ALWAYS it tells me "Illegal Operation" whenever I click on "Continute Game".

After investigating, I found out that the demo had a problem with the AMD computers.

BUT will the retail version work?!?!? can anyone help me out with that one?

Cheers!:xyx

Some good comments there, I'll be looking to pick up a copy over the next few weeks.

I have hardly played it as I've had so many problems with the actual version and with also trying to install the patch.

:roll

Save the patch to your CM disk Pab, then double click and it should do it its self. Thats what I did.

This game defines every single term of 'outstanding'. The 2D Match engine is great fun, (I end up shouting at my players when they do something moronic....).

It's an absolute cracker of a game!

Glad to see you got it Chris. It runs ok on your comp?

No problems as of yet.... only tried it with three leagues though.

Finally I'm fulfilling my ambition to be every Premiership club!

i`ve always hated management games, i dunno why they just never appealed to me.
I'm kinda the same when it comes to actual footy games like FIFA or something. Maybe I'm speaking out of turn but I've always found the people that play management games are more of the hardcore football variety whereas people who don't like them and are more into games like FIFA are more of your fairweather fans. Obviously that isn't in all cases but in the ones I've seen thats what I have found.

Seeing as no one helped me out, I risked splashing out on the game and I can only say this, its more harder and complicated than CM3, sadly as I only spend at least a hour on CM4 and spend more on CM Season 01/02 (Where I am building a French squad withe Leeds).

I'm sure I need to adjust to the all new CM machine really, has anyone encountered a problem with the game as I am told there is a problem with it, but I had no problems with it.....

Anyone?:? the man at the shop told me something about Windows XP or summat......

Oh there are plenty of problems with it. They have already brought out an "enhancement pack" and there are plans to bring out another 2 "enhancement packs". Gotta love how they avoid calling it a bug fixing patch. It seems the amount of bugs on this game are ten times worse than CM3. :evil

Could you share with me what the problems is, I only ask because my home ISP is currently giving me problems and the BT just go ahead and decided to cut the entire street I live in's lines for no reason at all........

So I'm using the college's computer to do this and they bans visiting video games websites so I can't get access to sigames.com

But one problem I saw was that the game was running VERY slow and in CM Season 01/02 it went very fast, and I didn't like the new look at all, I prefer the old one........

Was the slow running of the game one of the problem alongside with another one I found just yesterday, when you try to sign Ronaldinho, the board insists me to give him a £500 a week!! (WTF :? ) depsite him wanting thousands!!!

So if there are no bother to you could you tell me the bugs?

i prefer LMA manager (which i would love to see be converted onto the PC) and preimer manager (well i use to...but they haven't brought out a new one for ages) then championship manager. must be as championship manager is more suited to hardcore football fans.
