Posted May 18, 201410 yr Aside from the McMahons, who are the most powerful/prominent wrestling families? Cheers!
May 18, 201410 yr Or I suppose the Jarretts now to a certain extent. Or the Wyatts. I think this is the fourth Ask TWO (or the original, Ask Chris2K) thread, all the others have 2500+ posts. No pressure :P.
May 18, 201410 yr I'd say it's probably the Anoa'is, certainly in terms of talent produced. Yokozuna, the Rock, Rikishi, Roman Reigns, Umaga, Rocky Johnson, Peter Maivia, The Usos, The Wild Samoans, The Samoan Fight Club, The Headshrinkers, 3-Minute Warning, The Sons of Samoa... I think people miss the point when they say thinks like the DiBiases or the Rhodes, to me, it has to be a family that's produced multiple generations of top-level talents. I'd definitely put the Guerreros up there, maybe the Harts, although, to be honest, how many top guys did the Harts actually have? Then, I think the next level down would be families like the Funks and the Von Erichs, I think they deserve a mention, but I don't think they're in the running with the massive families, and, even then, the Harts really only had one golden generation, with not much above or below them in the family tree. Does it get much better than this????
May 19, 201410 yr As well as demolishing the territories Vince has also made himself the King of Wrestling, he would if in 50/100 years he was looked back on as the innovator of the sport
May 19, 201410 yr Yeah, in talent terms, it's gotta be the High Chiefs clan, just a ridiculous amount of top talent from the branches of that family. In business terms, I think the Jarrets are probably the next in line in the US as a family. The Carters don't really count, both because TNA is irrelevant and because they're nor really a wrestling family, it's more like a vanity project to them.
May 20, 201410 yr I'd say, most have been named - the Anoa'i + Maivia Family, the Harts, the von Erichs, the Guerreros. Only one mssing is the Alvarado family, even though they do not play a big role outside of Mexico.
May 20, 201410 yr Interesting answers and I can't really disagree with the Samoans. When I asked the question I sneakily wondered if anyone would say them and I should have known Ol' Johnny Boy would be that person! Just to follow up the question; does anyone know their story, or wrestling origins? If you consider the various territories that used to exist then you can explain the Harts, Von Erichs, Jarretts etc... but how or where did a Samoan family get involved? Cheers!
May 20, 201410 yr That's a good question actually, I have no idea. Aren't legitimately semi-royalty in Samoa or something?
