Posted June 6, 201410 yr with the shock of seth rollins turning heel on monday was i wondering if anyone has a favourite heel turn
June 6, 201410 yr Yeah, Hogan absolutely steals it by a country mile. I'm not even sure if they turned Cena it would be quite as unexpected as the Hogan turn because people want him to turn.
June 6, 201410 yr Hogans in hindsight should have had a bit less impact considering the surprise was on the verge of being blown when Bobby Heenan (I think) came out with "Whose side is he on?". Dope.
June 6, 201410 yr The only other turn that sticks in my mind as being shocking was Michaels turning on Janetty but that may be because it's the first really big turn I ever remember seeing as a kid.
June 6, 201410 yr If we are talking about when we were young, the most confusing for me at the time was Fuji turning on Demolition at Survivor Series 88, it was so weird I thought Fuji turned face and joined the Powers of Pain. The most shocking ones as a kid, even though looking back it was obviously going to happen both times, Savage turning on Hulk at The Main Event was crazy and Orndorff turning on Hogan in 86 blew my mind.
June 6, 201410 yr I'm on the Hogan train for this one, it is just a shame The Brain made that bad call (which I note is edited out of almost every version I've seen put out by the WWE since) but in recent times? I *LOVED* the ECW arrival to the Invasion, that moment when you realised that the guys that ran down were all ex ECW and they slowly turned round on Jericho and Kane... and then Heyman jumped up and cut a great promo. June 6, 201410 yr Hogan is number 1 without a doubt. Austin at WM17 was a shocker & Taker when he turned on Jim Ross in 2001
June 6, 201410 yr would you all consider vince at montreal a heel turn. would that count. It certainly marked the beginning of the "Mr McMahon" character
June 7, 201410 yr Hogans in hindsight should have had a bit less impact considering the surprise was on the verge of being blown when Bobby Heenan (I think) came out with "Whose side is he on?". Dope.I've never thought of that as Heenan giving the game away. He was always saying Hogan couldn't be trusted and he was always accusing Hogan of wrongdoings, so when Hogan comes out it would only be natural for him to disparage Hogan's motives. Every other time he did it, he was wrong, and he just stayed in character by questioning Hogan's motives again... only this time he was right.
June 7, 201410 yr Yeah it never bothered me either. That was typical Heenan and even though he said it, it didn't change or effect my reaction at all. I didn't see it coming and I could have never predicted he would heel turn. Hollywood Hogan wins the thread.
June 7, 201410 yr Outside the Hogan turn, I'd say Paul Bearer turning on Undertaker at Summerslam '96 could be a contender for 2nd place.
June 7, 201410 yr I tell you what turn I literally never saw it coming at all: Tatanka! Dude, when Tatanka ended up being the guy taking DiBiase's money at SummerSlam 1994 and not Luger, I was shocked as hell.
June 7, 201410 yr It's by no means the biggest heel turn, but I really enjoyed Punk knocking Rocky out on Raw1000.
June 8, 201410 yr It's by no means the biggest heel turn, but I really enjoyed Punk knocking Rocky out on Raw1000. I'll agree with this, it was so well done and both Punk and Rock played it beautifully. Also must mention as I think someone already has but Vince's real/unscripted turn at Survivor Series 1997 produced one of the nest heel characters ever
