Dana White has come out and publicly said that Jon Jones is ducking Al-ek-sun-der Goo-staff-son to the shock of nobody. UFC is racking up the heels this month, first Silva, now Jones.

It's on.

In an exclusive interview with UFC President Dana White and UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones, it was announced that the rematch between Jones and number one contender Alexander Gustafsson has been set for September 27th.

After returning from a trip to South America Jones finally had a chance to sit down with White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta today to talk about his next fight.

"There was never an issue with a contract. I was traveling and finally got to Vegas and got to talk with Dana and Lorezno. We talked and September 27th, I'll be fighting Gustafsson," Jones explained.

"I think Cormier is the tougher fighter, but the fans want to see me fight Gustafsson. There was never an issue with taking the Gustafsson fight," Jones said. "The issue was that my brother is getting married in July and I would have preferred a later date. I didn't want to go this early and i would have preferred to go later in October or November. It is what it is. We have a date now, Sept 27th. This was a personal decision for me. I will be at my brother's wedding and have a proper training camp."

"Obviously Jon is right, this if the fight the fans want to see. The great thing about this is, we get Jones vs Gustaffson, and if Jones beast Gustafsson, we get Jones vs Cormier. Two great fights in the light heavyweight division with three of the baddest guys in the world: the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and champion Jon Jones, and the number one and two contenders," UFC President Dana White Commented.

That show's scheduled for Toronto, and, in a smarky east-Canadian city like that, Jones is going to be a mega-heel. He's literally the real life version of Bo Dallas.

I'd have much preferred Jones vs Cormier to be honest. For once I agree with Jon Jones.

Vitor Belfort's drug test in Nevada in February would have been a failure for high testosterone had it been an official test.

Whilst I am not greatly shocked by this news, it does mean that he might struggle to get a licence to fight Chael in Wanderlai's place.

Jones only wanted to rush the Cormier fight after Cormier admitted he fought Henderson injured. Now he has time to heal and fight Jones at 100%. Jones remains the best chicken-shit heel in the history of MMA. The Jesus-praising, clean cut role model for a generation who drink drives, cheats on his wife, ducks fights, and tries to fight his toughest challenges when his opponents injures. There no heel gimmick in pro-wrestling right now that's as perfect at Jon Jones.

I'd have thought if Cormier got the fight though, they'd have surely held off until he was 100%...if not, UFC are slightly retarded. Cormier is going to rag doll that boy when it happens, Jones is going to look like my sons Enderman plush toy when its flying around our living room.

That's the controversy though, Cormier already has the fight. He needs an operation, and, by the time he's healed up, it would be perfect timing to fight the winner of Gus/Jones II. No one wanted Jones/Cormier now other than Jones, because he new he could take out his toughest opponent with an unfair advantage, now he has to fight the last guy to every really beat him up, and then then fight a 100% Cormier.

Didn't Dana say Cormier had to fight again in the mean time too though? I suppose even if he did, he will be off healing up so its irrelevant. Edited by The Beltster

The title of this thread shouldn't even be in the form of a question...

Jones ducks fights!

For example - Chael P. Sonnen, a career middleweight who Jones refused to fight even after the benefit of a long training camp and Sonnen taking the fight at short notice, causing the cancellation of a PPV and the creation of one of the most polite Ultimate Fighter series ever followed by a PPV highlighted by a sterile build up were Jones wouldn't even look at his challenger.

Straight out duck.

I don't necessarily blame Jones for that, I blame the man who managed to make Clay Guida a dislikeable figure for a while. Greg Jackson has a lot of input into Jones' career, especially when it comes to fight selections it seems. I do blame Jones for listening to him though.

At the end of the day though Jones is the man in charge of his own destiny and if he really took it seriously what Jackson was supposed to have said, that taking the fight against Sonnen was the worst decision he could make for his career, then he needs his IQ checked.

I know he had only three days of a training camp left but it was at the end of a training camp were he had been working towards facing Dan Henderson - a former wrestler who liked to bang with his fists - a fight of which Sonnen is a watered down example.
