I don't know how many of us watched the first season, but I can remember a few of us talking about it at the time.

Personally, I loved the first one and now the second season is upon is (with a third in the works), I must say I'm quite excited about this show returning.

In addition to the returning cast members, Rose Leslie (Ygritte from Game of Thrones) and Ian McDiarmid will have significant roles for

Also, in case you're interested, HBO are producing an American remake to be helmed by David Fincher.

I can't wait for this. So much so that I'm planning on completely rewatching the first season back to back before this one starts.

Such a good show.

Here's a quick recap of the first season.

Yes I remember enjoying, and being somewhat baffled, by this show when it was on C4 first time around. However just as I was really getting into it I think I was so knackered one night I fell asleep and missed much of the penultimate episode, so the revelations of the last episode were a bit watered down for me.

Think I might watch the 4od boxset though. Brill show.

Apparently ol' David Fincher's doing a US remake.

Cheers!

I don't know where you could have read that. :lol

Haha, knew I'd read it somewhere recently :P, sorry DC.

Cheers!

Yep seriously cannot wait for this, the first season was unlike anything else on TV and the second series should be epic.

This prequel episode is already awesome.

EDIT: Okay, if this episode was in any way indicative of the rest of the series, this is gonna rule. I know what I'll be doing on Mondays for the next few weeks.

Well make sure you also tune in tomorrow, because that's when episode two airs.

Absolutely breathtaking episode, the weaving of real life events/tragedies was done so well with the shows wild amazing storyline.

This show is seriously something special......

This was really awesome. Again. I cannot recommend this show highly enough. The first season is only 6 or 7 episodes long, so you should catch up in plenty of time to enjoy the rest of this series. :D
Two episodes in and it's the best thing on TV
Arby...sorry, Piotr going all Terminator with his "come with me or they'll kill you" was amazing. Can't wait to see how this plays out.
The scene at the dinner table was tense as was Jessica's scenes

I echo this wholeheartedly; the first season was fantastic and pretty much unlike anything else on TV.

It's brutal, violent, weird, at-times-uncomfortable and engrossing throughout.

I know at this point I'm just repeating myself, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

WATCH. THIS. SHOW.

I'm not even joking now. I demand you all go and watch this show. It's too good for people to not watch it. Last night's episode was immense (and confirmed some of my sneaking suspicions, if what happened is actually how they're gonna continue through the series).

It's so well acted, it's beautifully stylised visually, and it gave me some genuine laugh out loud moments. I really, REALLY can't recommend this highly enough.

It's even available for "completely legal" (wink) download for those who know where to look, so you people outside the UK have no excuse for not watching this either.

Now please go watch it, so this thread doesn't just turn into me rambling on each week about how great it is. :D

It is fantastic and if you missed the first season, it was only 6 episodes, so you could easily binge through it over a weekend to catch up.
I'm convinced. I've added this to my queue and will probably watch it in the newt few weeks.

I can't wait to see what you think of it. :D

Utopia not renewed for third series, Channel 4 announces

Cult thriller Utopia is not returning for a third series, broadcaster Channel 4 has confirmed.

The conspiracy drama, created by screenwriter Dennis Kelly, has been axed to make way for new commissions for 2015, the broadcaster said.

They called the show "channel defining" and "strikingly original" and said it would be "painful to say goodbye".

Utopia was criticised during its first series for a violent scene involving a primary school shooting.

The sequence was aired just a month after the Sandy Hook shootings in the US.

"It also has the honour of ensuring audiences will never look at a spoon in the same way again," added Channel 4, in reference to a torture scene involving the everyday item of cutlery.

Kelly had plans for subsequent series of the programme, which concluded its second run this summer.

Despite its demise on Channel 4, a remake for the US market is being made by cable channel HBO.

It is being written by Gillian Flynn, author of thriller Gone Girl, and will be directed by David Fincher, whose credits include The Social Network and the big screen adaptation of Flynn's novel.

The eerie, brightly-shot drama faced falling ratings during its second series, dipping from one million to around 650,000.

The story centred on a group of people hunted by a mysterious organisation over a rare cult graphic novel.

Channel 4's recently axed drama Utopia in the running for International Emmy award.

Utopia has been shortlisted for best drama series.

The awards will be held on 24 November.
