Would you be interested in a David Haye comeback?

There had been rumours right from the start of the year that David Haye was going to try and make a comeback despite cancelling 3 fights in in less than a year (Manuel Charr and Tyson Fury twice) and undergoing major shoulder surgery (he says doctors told him to retire). His last fight was in July 2012 when he knocked out Dereck Chisora at Upton Park. It's been reported that he's been back in training for 4 or 5 months and that he felt fit and strong enough to return.

After a few hints he's now confirmed that he is coming back (probably around October)

I've just stumbled across an interview he gave Sport 360 where he outlined his plans, some highlights:

“The dream scenario for me is maybe two or three fights, then some type of eliminator and then to challenge for a version of the heavyweight title,” he explains.

“Whether that’d be with Wladimir Klitschko (the WBA, IBF & WBO champion), or whoever holds the WBC title at that time.

“Then win that title and defend it, and then unify, going out there and winning all the belts together. That would be my perfect schedule for the next two or three years.

“I’m pretty confident I will be back to my best. I’m not that old, I’m 33, nearly 34.

“I haven’t got too many miles on the clock and not had many beatings in my 28-fight career. I feel I still have a lot to give.”

What do you think?

Would you want to see him make another run at the World Heavyweight titles?

I've been really frustrated by Haye's career since probably the Valuev fight so I won't be that excited until I start seeing him fight. However, he's a heavyweight who has a ridiculously hard punch and fast hands, so whilst I can contain my excitement for now, I'm sure I'll end up back on the bandwagon soon. He's an entertaining character out of the ring and is usually fun inside it, so I'm interested to see where he goes from now. Apparently he wants to be more active, which would be a great start, and maybe in three or four years time, we'll see a huge fight against Joshua.

Yeah, I feel the same as you guys. I'd definitely like to see to him as part of the division, he's a talented and entertaining fighter at his best. He might also bring some good fighters and fights to the U.K. But any interest and excitement has to be tempered by the frustrations at what he's done or not done since he got the heavyweight strap (nearly five years ago now). There's also the doubts about how good he is now, after the injury problems.

The talk a couple of weeks ago, like you say, Jack, was for him to come back in September/October and be active, fighting three or four second tier guys over a short period and then go from there. I could definitely get behind that. Apparently he was at the Ruslan Chagaev v Fres Oquendo fight the other day, leading to speculation that he was interested in fighting the winner of that for the WBA "world" title.

It's not really how good he is anymore but can he actually put the same power behind a punch like he used to, it was a pretty serious operation he had and I wonder will his shoulder ever be at 100% for professional boxing.
