September 19, 201410 yr This. Aah. I've never heard of that. You didn't miss much. The premise is Sean Bean plays a deep cover operative who, it would seem, struggles to remember which life is his real one, and which character he plays is the real character. In deep cover operative speak, you are given a "legend" of each character you have to play. Basically a crib sheet of a whole life which you have to remember in case you are questioned. Somewhere along the line ol' Beany gets confused where his legends end and his real life begins. What should have been a slow, methodical, uncomfortable, gritty portrayal of a man struggling with reality has instead been presented in a super-slick, fast paced, breezy style. Topped off with a good looking cast, including Ali Larter, who plays a bombshell handler, who's slept with Bean's character. Hmph. Shame really. Cheers!
September 22, 201410 yr I've split this off into its own thread in case people stick with it and/or get in to it. Here's the trailer for anyone that hasn't seen it: [video=youtube;ivAbsRvTAso]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivAbsRvTAso
September 22, 201410 yr I'm going to watch it again this week, give it a chance to redeem itself, just in case there's a show there. Cheers!
September 24, 201410 yr Well that was an improvement! Episode 2, whilst still quickly paced and slick and American, was well executed. It looks as though a weekly plot device will be finding an excuse for Ali Larter to wear something excruciatingly sexy, but whatever. Big improvement on last week. Sit through week 1 if you can, as it is essential, but week 2 is where it takes off. Cheers!
October 1, 201410 yr Episode 3 on tonight at 10. Sky One. I'm sure you're all beside yourself with excitement. Cheers!
October 1, 201410 yr Another solid episode. Trashy, a bit lightweight, a bit too slick for my liking, but despite all that it really does tell a good story well. Cheers!
November 22, 201410 yr Yes I've watched all the episodes of S1 in the end. I enjoyed it, certainly, but I can't shake off the feeling that the show needed to be much slower. Much, much (so verrrrrry much) slower than it was. It started off as the story of a man struggling to comprehend which legend is real, and quickly mutated into a deep military conspiracy. Storywise it was fine, yeah it was a pretty great idea, but perhaps I'm used to Homeland or even Game of Thrones insomuch that it was paced far too quickly and slickly. The pace and polish, in my opinion anyway, detracted from the show. I'm not sure I'll watch S2. Cheers!
So that "Legends" was pretty pooey.
Cheers!
