January 11, 201510 yr I just discovered these guys, unfortunately they are no more after two albums but they are pretty sick. Like Pink Floyd but more guitar driven. January 11, 201510 yr FKA twigs' LP1. Really, really odd album. She's pretty much invented the style of songs and music she delivers. Musically she's part Jamie xx, part Weeknd, part "Boy In Da Corner" (Dizzee's first album and the realisation that most people had never heard this style of beat before), and part "just pissing about with beats". Singing-wise she's a meld of Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Bjork's falsetto (but not the grunts) and part Liz Fraser from the Cocteau Twins. A haunting, sparse, tense, sensual, private, stuttery, blippy, in-part difficult, mostly monumental album. I really like it, but I can't tell you why exactly. Cheers!
January 12, 201510 yr I've been listening to a lot of Dynatron recently. Makes me feel like I'm driving around the hot Miami nights in the 80's with a trunk full of blow. [video=youtube;Ax0k5rxaXiU] Oooh, I like that! I'll be looking some more of there stuff up when I get chance. :D At the moment, I'm a little bit on love with Goat's "Commune" album from 2013. The first track of this is awesome once it gets going. For some reason YouTube doesn't have just the first track by itself, so I've had to link the entire album. January 13, 201510 yr Currently listening to my boss drone on and on and on. Not sure about what as typing this as he talks.
January 15, 201510 yr I've finally decided to give the new Prodigy single a listen, seeing as how the new album is released soon. [video=youtube;xB_nKpEkILs] I'm getting an overall feeling of "meh" about it. It sounds like The Prodigy, but they've seemingly tried to roll back to 1996 instead of trying something new. If this is indicative of the whole album, then it seems like it's more that they've ran out of money and need to sell some records, rather than they're actually making an album for the sake of some musical urge they need to get out. It just kinda sounds like Prodigy by Numbers, which is slightly gutting since the Prodigy were one of my absolute favourite things all through my formative years. Back to the Synth Hole I go!!
January 15, 201510 yr Halestorm's new single. Addicted. [video=youtube_share;dkC18ZPfb90]http://youtu.be/dkC18ZPfb90
January 19, 201510 yr I was listening to Future Islands while doing the washing up, and Emily told me they'd performed on Jools Holland and that I really needed to watch it straight away. She was not wrong: [video=youtube;e8Uhf3gM1m0] Edited January 19, 201510 yr by dsrchris
January 19, 201510 yr I'm gonna double post. I don't even care. Pitchfork pointed me in the direction of Run The Jewels, and I can't stop listening to this track. It's **NSFW** so you might wanna pop your headphones in. Dat bassline doe. :wub [video=youtube;uuWQyfGa1yI]
February 2, 20159 yr The new Misterwives song, Hurricane. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop-shop/6458234/misterwives-song-premiere-hurricane?utm_source=twitter It's rare for me to be in the loop of pop culture but I've championed these before and I continue to do so as they're utterly fabulous and are going to blow up big time this year. Jump on board, early!
February 3, 20159 yr I'm gonna double post. I don't even care. Pitchfork pointed me in the direction of Run The Jewels, and I can't stop listening to this track. February 17, 20159 yr Everyone should listen to this. Especially the Hawaiian Death Song at 28:15, even embed that song. Saw Duke Garwood for the second time yesterday at the Mark Langean Band gig and he's absolutely laid back and an awesome chill to listen to. February 17, 20159 yr I was cleaning some stuff out and found some old compilation CDs I'd made many moons ago. I'd completely forgot about this song, and how much younger me used to like it: [video=youtube;jsr86RYB4R0]
March 3, 20159 yr Really. No-one's listened to anything since the middle of February? Pfft. Well I'll double post to bring you more new Faith No More goodness. Ipecac Records have uploaded the new song "Superhero" for us all to listen to. And I quite like it. I liked "Motherf*cker", but I definitely like this one more. It's got that definite old FNM vibe to it, and I'm always a sucker for a long-a*s guitar solo! :P Wrap your ears around this: [video=youtube;NKP98hDBJ8w]
March 3, 20159 yr I am so f*cking awaiting this like an unborn child. Marvel also posted an article and interview on the song too! GO!.....................................GO!.......................................GO!..................................GO!
