MMA/ UFC / Legit fight fans... Is this woman a legit star or a one hold star?

Is Ronda being promoted because she is good looking or is she a real bad ass?

Her looks have barely ever been mentioned, she's just pushed as being the best (big stage) female combat sports participant in history. Which she is.

She used to be a one-trick pony with her judo/armbar but she's much more than that now, she's just on such a different level that she can still use those techniques to win fights because... she can.

The thing is, even if she was a one-trick pony, this is real fighting and your main objective is to win. If no-one has been able to counter / avoid the armbar, then why change it?

I mean, Cro Cop was basically known as "just a big kick to the head" (fairly or not), but in the world of real fighting for real money and a real danger of being hurt, there's no reason to change until someone gives you a reason to change.

She's legit alright, but she's also a bit of a one trick (armbar) pony, in as much as that's how she's won every fight... the important bit being "won every fight". I've got no doubt at all that, at some point, she'll win with something else, though it is incredibly likely to be another judo hold.

So I suppose she could be a one trick (judo) pony, because, let's face it, Ronda not going to win via G&P or striking, and she'd be insane to attempt it in any serious way, since grappling is her metier.

And while her looks certainly haven't hurt her career, like any fighter it's about the wins, and winning is something Ronda does consistently, and with considerable ease.

She has won through G&P (Alexis Davis) and she has won with striking (Sarah McCann) though etz.

Granted she is not the most talented striker in the world but she knows that and she is constantly working on it more then her judo and grappling to make her a more rounded fighter.

Trust me, she is the real deal.

As Gringo said, she already has won via G&P and striking.

As impressive as her submission win over Zingano was in 14secs, her previous fight against Alexis Davis was a KO in only 16secs, so even though she doesn't need to move away from the armbar until someone gives her a reason to, Ronday is more than capable of winning by other means.

With regards to cro cop being a one trick pony due to his head kick wins, he won six out of his 30 wins with head kicks if you used striking in his early career as him being a one trick pony you'd be right as that's pretty much how he fought, sprawl-strike and repeat usually.

I'd say it's easier to avoid head kicks in mma against a kick boxer than avoid an arm bar from a judoka anyway especially one at Rondas level. Which is why Ronda utilises it so often and so well, not that Cro Cop wouldn't have were he able to.

She's obviously not a one trick pony. She's beaten everybody in various ways and generally with ease. She's never really been in trouble, her talent is so far above anybody else in either women weight class. And to be fair, she's not that good looking. Paige Vanzant is getting the big push because of looks, Ronda is a legit bad ass.

That's me schooled like Rousey schooled Zigano. Hadn't followed or seen her previous 2 fights, saw her first couple of UFC fights and kinda lost track after that. Clearly, I was wrong, and clearly, she's not even a judo one-trick pony.
