Well there goes the only game I cared about for 2015/6

Well yeah, but did any of us seriously think this would be released without Kojima there to helm it?

 

I imagine the same kind of tech will be implemented by Kojima in a similar kind of game that'll be released by his new studio. It'll most likely be Silent Hills in everything but name.

That really really sucks, I was thoroughly looking forward to this game. Especially after playing the PT demo which was fantastic considering the whole thing was set in a corridor.

Various reports are coming in that Microsoft are offering Konami a lot of money (some figures have it over US$1billion, but that seems a tad over the odds) to take over the rights to the entire Silent Hill franchise, thus resurrecting Silent Hills as an XBone exclusive.

 

With the game already being around 80% complete at the time of the cancellation, the feeling is that Konami would be keen to make some money from their initial investment and the deal will be announced at E3.

 

As I'm a PS4 owner, the exclusivity part is annoying, but I'd much rather have the game see the light of day and there's more chance of a game that exists eventually being ported to PS4 (regardless of how slim that is) than a game that doesn't exist.

I really don't understand why Konami don't just sell all their video game licenses and just become a gambling machine company at this point. It honestly seems like their home-console division exists entirely out of spite towards their own fans.

A lot of reports are saying they want to become a mobile-gaming company only and abandon PC / consoles completely.

The Xbox boss has shot down the story.

That doesn't mean it's not true. We're on the cusp of E3, so I can't see Microsoft wanting to confirm anything about anything (not just Silent Hills) this side of the event.

Norman Reedus has also been tweeting, which people have taken as hope the game is still viable.

I'm a PS4 owner but I agree with DC that it would be better for it to be an XB exclusive than to not exist at all. At least if it exists its possible I'll play it someday.
