So where are you guys heading in 2016? Let's get things rolling with music, theatre, stand-up etc.

For me, 2016 will start off next Tuesday with Henry Rollins embarking on his Spoken Word tour through the UK and Europe. I'm actually intrigued with Spoken Word at the moment.

2016 will also be the year I finally get to see one of my greatest idols, Chris Cornell. He'll be making his way over to Europe and play his solo tour and back his latest Album "Higher Truth",

I'm also considering Baroness and Juliette Lewis and the Licks and that will cover the first quarter of the year.

Sticking with Rollins, you could do worse than check out his latest movie; He Never Died.

It's a lot of fun.

Good that you mentioned it, I've been catching up on a lot of Rollins' stuff, so I'll put that on my list. Read about it last week and heard many good things about it.

I'm going to see Katherine Ryan in March, saw her at Udderbelly last summer in London and she was great.

Since I got my tickets for Manchester she's since announced extra dates including one pretty much on my door step, such is life. Still good to see her doing well even if she is a bit mainstream now.

Just bringing this back up, I'd recommend going to one of Henry Rollins' spoken-word shows. It'll break your butt from sitting 3 hours but this man is very interesting. Due to the events of Lemmy and David Bowie passing away, he took a great deal of time telling stories of the times he met them. The Lemmy stories were heartbreaking, we all knew him - as Dave Grohl put it - as a living, breathing, drinking and snorting fucking legend but he actually was quite a sincere and sometimes lonely man.

That said, I ain't done with the gigs. Bought tickets for Iggy Pop with Josh Homme and his crew, Mark Lanegan aswell as Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals.

Missed Rollins but was told it was brilliant!!!!

Coming up Hey Hello, The Offspring, Terrorvision and heading to Hard Rock Hell in November. Also assured there will be a Wilhearts tour later this year :)

Saw Slipknot featuring Suicidal Tendencies in Belfast about two weeks ago, brilliant show. It was very very heavy considering it was my first ever concert. Wasn't in the pit this time around because i was in the seating but now I've seen what goes on I think I can handle it haha
Saw Black Stone Cherry on the Carnival of Madness tour in Leeds. Was my 7th time seeing them and they never disappoint! I usually have a gig or two lined up but sadly not at the moment. Very tempted to see Steel Panther in October. The last time was on my stag weekend last year.

Steel Panther are always brilliant.

Would highly recommend Hey Hello to everyone. A few songs on YouTube and are even better live!

I'd love to see Steel Panther myself but I doubt they'll ever make their way over to NI, couldn't blame them to be honest because the lack of metalheads here is atrocious. Slipknot are probably the biggest metal band to hit their prime in the new millennium and they couldn't even totally fill out the SSE arena in Belfast.

I'm going to see Bring me the Horizon at the Royal Albert Hall in April with an orchestra.

This will be the 6th time seeing them with the last time being at Leeds Festival last year.

Looking forward to how they are going to use the orchestra

I couldn't imagine them with an orchestra but it sounds interesting. I'll be seeing them in June in Belfast which will only be my second concert. Hopefully they play their more metal core stuff because the new album was a bit disappointing for me, it feels like they've turned into more of a pop rock band.

I've been into them since Suicide Season which and have seen them touring that album with ADTR.

On the recent tours I think they played Chelsea Smile, but it's mainly Sempiternal and Thats the Spirit songs now.

I can see your point, but the direction they are taking is getting them more AirPlay and more fans so I can't imagine they will revert back, only for an anniversary show for one of the older albums.

It kind of bugs me that they're taking a new direction seemingly just to gain fans though. They're probably losing some loyal ones over their new music but I'll still be looking forward to seeing them as That's The Spirit is good for what it is but I'll be very happy if they play Sempiternal material because that's my favourite album of their's.

I'm considering going to The Cat Laughs comedy festival in Kilkenny, Ireland to see Dom Irrera. I'm a massive fan of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and Dom is a frequent guest. I'm just not sure if it's worth it because he's on with two other comedians (good, well known Irish comedians) on the night and the show is supposed to be like an hour and twenty minutes long. Hard to tell from the website if he's topping the bill or opening. I don't want to go to Kilkenny to see a 20 minute spot. Decisions, decisions.

They are doing what makes them happy and if it gets them more fans and more money then really I see no problem in it. After all whats wrong with making money? If anything their ability to change their sound and do different things show their evolution and actual true ability as musicians and as people which should be applauded and encouraged.

After all when people like Radiohead do it (all be it, their sound took a less commercial change from their original sound) people applaud it and praise them.

Plus when you see a band on tour when they have a new album out they always play mostly new material, mainly because they are plugging that album. They'll slip in some older stuff to fill out the set, stuff like Shadow Moses, Sleepwalking and Can You Feel My Heart that has electronic edges to it like the newer songs but do not be surprised if you hear at least 10 tracks from That's The Spirit in a jumbled order throughout the set.

Also even if they are no where near as aggressive or the same as the There is a Hell... era, at least way they are becoming more of a gateway band and pulling more younger people into rock music and away from *shudders* dubstep and all the other crap that passes for music these days which is mainly people on laptops hitting the space bar.

I'm going to see Lord of the Dance tonight. Not really too sure what to expect. I saw River Dance last year and I was absolutely blown away, but Lord of the Dance will be a bit more contemporary I'd say. Still though, if I enjoyed River Dance I'll hopefully enjoy this.

I have advertised this else where but thought I would also put it here anyone want Glastonbury tickets. I have tickets for Thursday -Sunday.

If anyone wants them there is one down side I get free tickets if I help out in the Catholic tent. You don't have to be catholic just prepared to hold a bible and carry things to the alter. I have covered my shift for the whole day apart from between 1-2 each day so free tickets everyday, camping in the teepee tented field all paid for, for one hour out of your weekend each day.

Pm me if you are interested I have been asked to work so can't go now.

I was at their concert Friday past and it actually turned out very good. They only played 6 That's The Spirit songs (Happy Song, Drown, Throne, True Friends, Doomed, Avalanche), The first 4 of which I actually like but don't mind Doomed and Avalanche.

Looking back on it I do kinda realise they're changing their sound because they want to, which is fair enough, just not my personal preference. They did whip out Chelsea Smile though which got the pit going, even to the point that there was a wall of death during Shadow Moses.

Lord of the Dance wasn't a patch on Riverdance. Some very talented dancers but they weren't utilised properly. Even the costumes were so over the top that it took from the dancing. Flatley retired from dancing this year or last but the show is still all about himself. Too much ballet and gymnastics for what is essentially an Irish dancing show. Even the Irish stuff is cheese laden. I wouldn't go to see it again.

Just seen that Lissie is performing in Leeds in December. Methinks a trip is in order. Thanks to @dsrchris for introducing me to her.
