The cars are starting to be revealed now so time for the new seasons thread. I'll update this posy each time I get new pictures. Don't be surprised if you can't really tell the difference between this and last years cars, with the potential reg changes for 2017 I highly doubt this year will have any major advancement on the aero side until the teams know where they are going to go next season.

Ferrari made me very happy with the retro two tone White/Red livery, made me instantly think back to the '76 Ferrari that Lauda drove and I'm a sucker for teams that use their heritage in the modern era.

The Haas looks pretty wide to me compared to the other cars, not so sure it'll be jumping into the midfield from the get go.
The drivers line up made me realise how much I need to get back in touch with F1 as I had not heard of some of them. It is scary that the season starts soon it does not feel that long ago it ended.

I did not watch much as I was knackered but there were a few crashes last night. Hamilton looks good but it was a rain affected second practice so might not mean much. I like some of this years cars and i am looking forward to the race the Australian is one of my favourites.
@Omega Do you want to individual threads for the races this season mate?
Whatever you think mate...I'll leave it up to you.
Can some one help bit confused, in the F1 planet it states Haryarto? Has been given a three place grid penalty for being in the wrong for the crash. I get this but then states he also has to penalty points what are these? Is this just the lollipop 10 second penalty or are we running a points scheme now?

We've had a point system for a while. Most driver infractions carry a one or two point penalty on the drivers super license. Get 12 points during a year and you get a race ban.

That qualy was a fucking disaster. Luckily about 70% of the team bosses agree so chances are we'll get to go back for Bahrain.
The qualy was weird I lost what was going on I have in recent years just watched the races so never took much notice about the points system trying now to watch the qualys and the races this time round.

It came in, I think, after Grosjean's first stint in F1 where he was pretty crash happy and people felt that arbitrarily banning someone wasn't a great system and a points system meant repeat offenders would be punished but a single mistake wouldn't in itself cause a ban inmost cases.
How did Alonso walk away from that crash??
No idea it was mental. The car is a right mess at least the changes made since Sennas death show that the cars are much safer. I enjoyed the race was shocked at the start with the speed of the Ferraris.
That was some crash Alonso walked away from, Mercedes look to have it sown up again.
Despite the fact that Ferrari looked to be in a commanding position until a glaring tactical error.

All ifs and buts I know, but if Ferrari matched Rosberg's strategy after the red flag, I am confident Nico would have had the pace to beat Vettel. The tactical error probably only cost them second to Lewis. The Merc is still at least a couple of tenths faster when all is equal, minimum. Their botchy start has made it look like the Ferrari's are closer to them than they actually are, to my eye.

Alonso's crash was seriously scary. The worst I've seen for a while. The fact he was able to just slip out and walk away with little more than being winded was immense. Huge credit to the way these cars are designed.

My man Roman taking points on the Haas debut was wonderful to see too. A bit fortunate that the strategy worked out, but still, outstanding stuff. I'm pleased they are able to compete with the midfield on pure pace as it is shows that new teams can get somewhere if they do it right.
