Can anyone recommend a good medieval strategy game for a Mac? I love Game of Thrones and looked into Genesis but that appears to be terrible. Medieval 2 Total War seems to be the consensus best.

Yeah, or if you want to go old school, Lords of the Realm (2, if I remember correctly.)

Is it just me, or are strategy games in the shitter the last few years? OK, they don't work too well on console, but then isometric 3d is fine, so they can run fine on a shitty old pc anyway.

I bought Medieval 2 Total War after trying unsuccessfully to download it free from the internet. I'd say my computer picked up everything but the game

For me this genre peaked with Rome: Total War and Age of Empires II which both ruled hard.

Strategy games have been on a downer the past few years though etz, you're right. In general they will never reach the heights they did in the 1990's - 2006 or so when you had great games in the C&C series, the original Warcraft games, Krush, Kill and Destroy, AoE, Civilization II, Star Wars: Galaxy at War, Panzer, Pacific and Peoples General, the original Dungeon Keeper (not that abomination that EA remade) and my personal favorite RTS of all time, Total Annihilation.

The reason is, people can get RTS-Lite games on their phones and tablets now, like those being advertised by Arnie and Waltz on the TV and if it gets too hard, they can just in app purchase what they need to win the battle rather then you know, actually use the skill and ability to complete one of these games properly.

Steam sale is now on, baby. Lord of the Realm FTW!

No, but seriously, it's £3.39 for the Lords of the Realm Complete bundle, way worth it if strategy is your bag and you're not that bothered about graphics or 3d isometric.

Also, Total War is tres cheap, mon cher

Also, The Banner Saga is ridiculous cheap considering all I've heard about it.

Yeah, been enjoying it. I've put gaming on the back burner for many years because I really don't have time for it. I'm hoping I don't go too far down the rabbit hole with this :L
