August 29, 20168 yr Battlefield is a good series. Wings of the Red Star, Wings of the Luftwaffe, Sea Wings, 20th Century Battlefields, Walking with Dinosaurs or Giants, Plant Earth, anything narrated by David Attenborough - seriously anything.
August 30, 20168 yr Wonders of the Solar System/Universe & Cosmos are both really cool. I use them a lot to have on as background noise at bedtime as they're super relaxing.
August 30, 20168 yr I thought it was just documentary features and not series; my bad. In that regard, I echo Megz's proclamation for Louis Theroux's work and would add Keith Allen's documentary on Westboro Baptist Church as well as the Panorama episode called "Scientology and Me." September 3, 20168 yr In no order of merit When We Were Kings Grizzly Man When We Were Kings is great alright. I've always wanted to watch Grizzly Man but never got around to it. Plant Earth, anything narrated by David Attenborough - seriously anything. He is the man alright. Any Louis Theroux stuff Louis does some fantastic documentaries. He has one coming out early next year about Scientology and I believe they are making a counter documentary about him. He was on The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast recently talking about it. Very interesting.
September 11, 20168 yr I'm kind of a geek for old retro video game docs. Once Upon Atari and Game Over are both really good. I grew up on those old systems so its a nostalgia kick for me and I love hearing people who were there at the time talk about the dawn of these new era's.
September 20, 20168 yr Louis Theroux weird weekends Wrestling is one all wrestling fans should see. Other ones: The Bridge. Its about people who suicide from the golden gate bridge. Includes CCTV footage of the moments before and the jump. Very dark. Blackfish. Another bleak one, about the Killer Whales in captivity. Making a Murderer. Big commitment to watch it all, but its worth it. America Freedom To Fascism. Zeitgeist. Watch those two if you want to scare yourself with "reality".
September 20, 20168 yr Another harrowing one to watch is 9/11, which was a documentary by two French brothers who were scheduled to be filming the initial few months of a probationary firefighter in New York. However, a routine check on a reported gas leak was interrupted by the first plane crashing into the Twin Towers and the rest of the film is the immediate aftermath of that, both on-site and back at the station. It is amazingly powerful, with some imagery and comments that have stuck with me from when I first saw it in 2002.
