I was actually inspired by my friend who decided to go for a premium account on Spotify, saying that he was "done pirating songs and too tired of YouTube". That's a good cause to support, so here I am thinking about which music player is worth my money. Apple Music? Spotify? SoundCloud? Anything else?

I use Spotify personally. I don't use the premium account though because usually, they give you thirty minutes free of ads if you just listen to one longer ad. But if there are more skips with premium, then I might be willing to give it a shot. I use Pandora too.

I've been a Spotify premium user for a few months and I have never heard any ads since I started paying. Compared to my friend who hears ads every 2-3 songs, I'd say this is worth my money. I've never tried Apple Music but looks like it's more expensive than Spotify's premium.

I use Amazon Music but also have a free Pandora Account. I signed up for Amazon Music because I have the Echo products that play them and found that it had every song I could think of. I think you can get three months for .99 right now to try them out.

I read that the Echo plan is exclusive to the device so you can't get the same library on your phone. Is that true? The discounts are only for Amazon Prime users too which is understandable since Amazon is a huge platform. Nevertheless, it is a good competitor to Spotify.

Kougo.

I've never gotten tired of YouTube but I am now tempted to go with Spotify. I keep thinking that there are many exciting music apps but people prefer to go with the popular names. Does Spotify have a free trial period?

I am on the free 6 month trial for Apple and to be honest am very pleased it is the same cost as spotify and seems to be great have not yet failed to find a song I want to play. Which considering i am very eclectic this is amazing.

No once you sign up for Amazon Music, all of your music is in your account. I access it from my Echo devices as well as on my phone. I play it work thru my computer and blue-tooth it from my phone in my car.

Never heard of this one. Why do you like it?

That's good to know. Have you ever tried Spotify, though? I like that Spotify is more versatile, as in it can be installed on any platform unlike Apple Music.

Thanks for clarifying! It looks like all of these music apps are actually pretty good. It ultimately depends on what kind of music I listen to and what kind of devices I want to keep my music in.

You won't have heard of it.Very few non Chinese people will have. It is Chinese and I like it as I like Chinese Music. ( It isn't just Chinese music though.)

You would need to read basic chinese characters to use it at first but can change to English. Also the new version restricted access to mainland China only. (Android version only.)

@Glimm the offer at the moment is a six month trial on an Android phone. Apple is expanding onto android phones.

I rarely listen to Asian music, so I guess it's not for me. Is the international song selection any good? I assume you don't only listen to Chinese music, so don't you need an app with more entries in its library?

That is a very nice offer! They are really stepping up the game against Spotify and the others. Is it easy to discover new songs/releases there? It looks quite easy when I check my friend's Spotify. So far I like how easy it is to use Spotify.

The international, e.g. English song selection is pretty much every English song that has ever existed.

Is the first time always so confusing? I was going to check Apple Music, but I felt like there were too many things going on the screen and I couldn't keep up. I also installed Spotify. I'd check them out for a few days on their free plan before paying. I think the library collection on both apps is pretty good (Taylor Swift is back on Spotify), so it's more about which one easier to use.
God the setup to apple music is insane but once you have sorted it and played around once it is very easy to find. The first time was a nightmare though but now really easy. Also no idea what it is like on spotify but creating your first play list on Apple is a nightmare as well as it is not intuitive and you are expected to know but once you have suffered once it is so easy to replicate and takes seconds.

@Laffy I took over my friend's Spotify for a while and it suited my style. Creating playlist was also easy. I clicked on the new button, gave it a name, went to songs I wanted to listen and hit the add button. Most of the functions are straightforward. I may not be going back to Apple Music.

Apple seems to like making their users confused. I remember how many people complain about how hard it is to operate an iPhone compared to the other types.
