I logged into Netflix this morning and was greeted with a message saying that they were raising their price. They now want me to pay $13.99 for the premium service. I have been using Netflix for years and they keep raising the price! I am now rethinking my subscription!

Price changes are normal but my worry would be if the margin was outrageous. The question is, are there cheaper options out there and if so, will a switch be worth it?
Yep, we were hit with the increase, however, as much as we use it, I can't say that the price is too high yet, but if it keeps rising at this rate, it will be soon!
I tend to think that the market causes these price hikes and as noted in other subscription channels, these prices go up and come down, depending on many factors. An exaggerated margin of increase wouldn't look good for anyone..
Bah, of course they bumped it up again. Like everyone else has said, this isn't out of the norm, but I still hate it when it happens. I'm still more than willing to pay though because it's not like it's an outrageous jump. They know how to keep (most) people using their product even with price raises.
Yep, I agree with LKC. This is one company who understands supply and demand in the marketplace. This is still cheaper than renting movies or buying them, and as long as it still is, people will keep signing up!
Well I have been a member of Netflix since it began back in 1998 and I was paying 4.99 per month. They have in the past grandfathered in existing customers. This price increase is for everyone. While it may not bother some people, I hate when they keep increasing prices for customers that have been with them for so many years.
The idea here is to respond to the customer demands and as long as they are doing that, I don't see the price hikes causing much havoc, so to speak. It would be a totally different issue if the service became sub-standard.
