I'm into psychological thrillers at the moment and Netflix recommendations aren't helping me. I really like psychological T.V. shows and movies with a twist. Any suggestions? I have Netflix, cable, some premium channels, and Amazon Prime. I don't have Hulu at the moment.

Shutter Island, Gone Girl, Nocturnal Animals, and Black Swan are some good psychological thriller films, in my opinion. I don't know if they're available on any of those services. As for shows I've heard good things about Hannibal and Bates Motel.

Me, running in here with my Goodreads account: Oh, you mean one you can watch?

Lessee: The Invitation, El secreto de sus ojos (I haven't seen the English remake The Secret in Their Eyes), Sharp Objects, Creep...

@Salome G, I usually stick with lighter shows like comedies and reality television. I love reading mysteries and psychological thrillers and can lose myself between the pages for hours on end. I was pleasantly surprised by the Sharp Objects series, which is what made me search for others like it. I missed a lot of the clues that were sprinkled throughout the show, which is one reason that I usually prefer reading these stories. I guess I just pay better attention when I'm reading while television is pretty passive.

@Maya Hannibal is too scary for me, but the others look great and I'm about to settle in with Black Swan. Thanks!

The Following is really good, that's on Netflix.
Not sure if this is what your looking for but the TV show version of Heathers was good
@ShadowEdge, I totally understand why you feel that way about Hannibal. Did you end up watching Black Swan? What did you think? I hope it wasn't too disturbing for you!

@Maya, Black Swan was excellent and I didn't expect that ending at all! Natalie Portman looked so elegant. This past weekend I watched Shutter Island - twice, because the plot twist threw me - and it was also very good! I remember that the movie got bad reviews when it premiered, but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the excellent picks.

@Zack T, I loved the first season of The Following but felt it fizzled after that. Not even my adoration of Kevin Bacon could make up for the plot holes and bumbling "good guys".

@BamBamsGurlMoo I was looking forward to seeing it, but thought the show was shelved indefinitely after the Parkland shooting. I'll have to check it out. The movie was a cult-classic and I'm excited to see a modern take on high school angst.
