It may be too early to call, but Liverpool is showing early signs of winning the 2019/2020 premier league trophy. Manchester City's has been blowing hot and cold, and the form is nothing close to last year's. Who will carry the day?

The Premier League has gotten competitive over the last few years. Do you recall Leicester winning the title a few seasons back? Liverpool was leading the table at this time last year, but beating Manchester City on Sunday probably shows that no other team is as strong. Either way, it is too early to talk about anyone winning the title.

I mistakenly expected Manchester City to come out on top in that match. Liverpool as been in fine form lately.

 

What do you think about the issues surrounding monitor use? I'm glad that fans will be better informed about VAR checks within the next month or so. As a fan, it's quite frustrating to be left in the dark, wondering what's going on. I'm surprised some people pushed officials to check with the monitors more often. How tedious! Not to mention the refs got where they are for a reason. I'm glad it was determined to save the monitors for incidents that the refs couldn't witness.

I also expected the game to sway in Manchester City's favour or for both teams to settle for a draw. Though I didn't watch the game, the 3-0 win for Liverpool shocked me. We are better off with VAR checks, but the officials shouldn't yield to pressure and rush to the monitors every so often. The frequent calls somehow slow the adrenaline rush and suck out the excitement from the game.

Liverpool's still at the top, but they played well last season too so it's not surprising. Poor Manchester City has really gone to pieces since 2018-2019 it seems.

I think you're spot on. It isn't bad at all when watching on the telly as the announcers keep you informed and help distract with their comments about the game, but I imagine it's quite rough in the stands with no information or side chatter to keep you informed and entertained.

Is anyone else surprised by the Foxes? Leicester City has done amazingly well, especially compared to last season. Jamie Vardy seems unstoppable.

 

The Arsenal team is doing dreadful and you can tell morale is down.

Hey @Ogmore, I stopped underrating the Foxes after they won the 2015-2016 league title. Forget Manchester City's shambolic defence of the 2018-2019 title; Leicester City had it in the bag much earlier. Did you see the 9-0 drabbling of poor Southampton and how easily it beat Arsenal? It is a team to watch. Isn't Chelsea also playing well this season (despite having a relatively young squad?)

The foxes have had their ups and downs. Their best year was 2015-2016 and they haven't had that magic since. After that golden year, they fell to 12th, then 9th for two years, and now 2nd, so quite an improvement. But for me it was unexpected. Their team owner perished in that ill-fated helicopter crash last year and I thought it might have a lingering effect on the team. There have also been a few news reports of teammates rowing, though who knows whether it's true. Chelsea usually ranks well, but they're not a team I follow closely. Is Chelsea a favourite of yours? Do you think anything can turn Arsenal around?
