The World of Warcraft is doubling XP gains for all players until April 20th, supposedly to encourage fans of the game to stay inside and practice social distancing. I used to be a dedicated WoW gamer and got away from it over the years. It seems like a good time to jump back into it. Time to fire up my PC.

Do you know if it works for the free version too? It's been ages since I've played it and I don't want to buy anything unless I'm sure I'll stick with it.

It should, but that only let's you go up to level 20. So if it does work (It also scales with any heirlooms you may have), you'd hit 20 real quick. So that might help provide some incentive for you.

I've played WoW since 2006, mostly, aside from a couple breaks. I'm off and on with it right now, but I've enjoyed WoW Classic A LOT. I play Alliance on Mankrik there. On Retail, I play Eonar server, Horde side.

XP doubles in the free version too, @Poppy.

I'm woefully bad at the game now and need to improve my reaction time. I figured it would work like learning to ride a bike. The skill might get a little rusty, but the ability would always be there. I've got nothing but time on my hands to improve those reflexes at least.

How hard is it to get into this game now? Is there a steep learning curve? I'm working from home and glad to skip commute, but I've got too much time on my hands and I'm looking for something to do.
I am not much of a gamer, but I think this is a strategy that will work, My ISP provider just doubled my internet speeds, and it is exciting to see everything working smoothly. That aside, is this a game that anyone (who has not handled a gaming controller/joystick before) can learn?
There's plenty of things to learn about, like most any massive RPG game. But WoW in the retail modern version (AKA Battle For Azeroth) has added a lot of features over the years to make it as friendly to newly beginning players as possible - both to speed up your leveling process, and to make it more of a smooth and enjoyable experience.
