Right, long post ahead. Brace yourself.....

This month will see the release of The Matrix Reloaded, the second chapter in the matrix story. Revolutions will be out in November.

Here is an extract from a previous thread I did. I'll show it again because not a lot of people read it.

From Psi-2 Magazine...

This may sees the next chapter in the Matrix saga. After three years, work on both sequals is nearly complete, with the final part Matrix Revolutions out in December.

The story Takes place over a 72 hour period, which is the time avalible to the rebellion to stop a quarter of a million high tech probes trying to dig their way down to Zion and waste the human populace.

Twins

Two silver coated dreadlocked baddies we've seen in the trailers are key baddie characters played by identical twins Neil and Adrian Rayment. Simply known as twin one and two, they are deleted programmes from the Matrix, who have been given the choice to be put back into the source or become roaming elements in the program.

They essentially have free reign, and their characters take full use of their special access to the matrix, shaping the world in the image they want and sporting cool pearl-handled cut-throat razors and cut-glass British accents.

Car Chase

The car chase will have multiple agents in a highway pursuit of Trinity and Morpheus, leaping out of cars as they're blown apart and driven into other speeding vehicles. the chase will employ a now-mobile bullet time technique allowing the camera to circle the chase, swinging low and spiralling through exploding cars, windows and doors.

Second unit Director David R. Ellis touched upon the car chase seen in the trailer. "even if you have already seen impressive car chases, you have never seen one where guys jump from car to car and fight in the air Matrix style". Joel Silver indicates, "The matrix Reloaded explains why and how some of the characters can literally fly in the air, the origin of their superhuman strengh. In fact, the Wachowski brothers imagined this story so as to make a superhero movie."

New Characters

New characters include "The Architect" (Who designed the Matrix) and a Japaneese craftsmen "The Key Maker". New villans include the evil temptress Persephone (played by Monica Bellucci) And her husband (played by Lambert Wilson) who is "The King of the Matrix" and can "program himself into any language he wants."

And the following is from the Los Angeles Times

Hollywood, obsessed with bragging rights, is bracing for some box-office records to crumble this week.

With audience polling red hot and an 8,400-plus screen release, Warner Bros.' "The Matrix Reloaded" is virtually certain to topple "Hannibal's" claim to the biggest opening of an R-rated film: a $58-million weekend in 2001.

Some industry observers think the science fiction action thriller is poised to grab as much as $150 million in ticket sales between a just-scheduled Wednesday night preview and Sunday, eclipsing the record $110.1 million collected by 20th Century Fox's PG-rated "Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones" over a similar Wednesday-Sunday period last May.

Any way you count it, the take looks likely to be large for "The Matrix Reloaded." Pent-up demand is so strong that Warner is preempting the picture's official Thursday opening with 10 p.m. Wednesday previews in at least 2,000 theaters. The studio expects some theaters to play the two-hour, 17-minute feature around-the-clock.

Executives at Warner and rival studios have been marveling at what they say is unsurpassed "tracking," the film industry's standard measure of audience prerelease interest in a picture. Studios routinely hire market researchers to handicap how well a film might perform; the researchers poll potential moviegoers to measure such things as their awareness of a movie, their interest in seeing it and whether it would be their first choice over an upcoming weekend.

The most recent such tracking poll on "The Matrix Reloaded," from National Research Group on May 8, found that of those polled, it was the first choice of 43 percent -- an astoundingly high percentage by industry norms.

Appetite for "The Matrix Reloaded" appears to eclipse even that for last summer's mega hit "Spider-Man," which posted a record opening weekend, with $114.8 million in ticket sales for Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"I've never seen such tracking in my life," said industry veteran Joe Roth, founder of Revolution Studios. "I've never seen interest like this across every single group -- where a 10-year-old boy is as interested in seeing this movie as a 54-year-old woman. There's absolutely no weakness."

Dan Fellman, Warner's distribution chief, declined to speculate about prospects for toppling the weekend mark set by "Spider-Man." "We're going to have the largest opening of an R-rated movie in motion picture history. I can't say where it's going from there," Fellman said.

Direct comparisons of "The Matrix Reloaded" and "Spider-Man" don't exactly apply, since the comic book hero movie opened on a Friday. That picture's four-day gross of $125.8 million -- including Monday -- marks the record for any comparable time frame.

Hollywood's obsession with big openings has been driven by the need to concentrate the effect of huge marketing expenditures during a picture's early days in release, when studios get a larger share of ticket sales from theaters. Warner and its financing partner Village Roadshow Pictures will spend at least $100 million to sell "The Matrix Reloaded" around the world, on top of a production budget that exceeded $300 million for the picture and its successor, "The Matrix Revolutions," which opens Nov. 7.

In recent years, the industry's biggest blockbusters have collected on average 75 percent of their box-office dollars in the first three weeks. That share is far higher than was usual a decade ago, before studios began blitzing theaters with such pictures as Warner's two "Harry Potter" films, which opened on more than 8,500 screens each.

"Films are saturating the marketplace in a much bigger way than they did 10 years ago," said Paul Dergarabedian of Exhibitor Relations Co., a box-office consulting firm. In 1993, said Dergarabedian, the top 10 summer films opened on average in 1,855 theaters, compared with 3,345 for the top 10 last summer.

Hollywood is particularly interested in "The Matrix Reloaded" as a measure of new potential for R-rated fare. To date, the highest-grossing R-rated film is 1984's "Beverly Hills Cop," which took in $235 million at the domestic box office. Only two other R-rated films ever grossed more than $200 million: 1998's "Saving Private Ryan," with $216.2 million, and "Terminator 2," with $205 million in 1991. And not one of the 15 top-grossing movies of all time had an R rating.

All of that is likely to change with the premiere this year of "The Matrix Reloaded" and the upcoming "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and "Bad Boys 2," which are expected to carry R ratings.

"This summer is probably going to set a new standard for how R-rated movies perform," Dergarabedian said.

Though an R rating restricts those younger than 17 from going to a movie without a parent or guardian, some observers have suggested that many parents will take youngsters to the current round of films and ticket sellers will be less than vigilant in policing the underage.

But John Fithian, president of the National Assn. of Theater Owners, strongly challenges the notion that theater owners won't take the rating system seriously.

"As is the case with any high-profile picture, theater operators will be very vigilant in their enforcement of the rating system for 'The Matrix Reloaded,' " Fithian said. "We discussed the importance of this effort at our recent board meeting two weeks ago. So, children who think they can come to this picture without a parent or guardian are mistaken."

Ratings debate aside, Warner executives clearly would be happy to shatter any and all records, and have been stretching their film's prospects with some of the industry's most aggressive distribution techniques, including the widespread Wednesday previews.

The studio, Fellman said, wants to "satisfy fans" who have been waiting since 1999 for a sequel to "The Matrix," which grossed just $27 million in its opening weekend but went on to collect more than $170 million at the U.S. box office. But it also wants to reap as many dollars as possible, as quickly as it can.

"Remember, we call it the movie business," he said.

The game version of the film tie in looks good.

Check my preview for my opinion.

I've never been a great MATRIX fan, but, I might yet check this one out...

I have seen The Matrix probably about 50 times, Im weeping with joy at the prospects of seeing this one :D
I'm looking forward to seeing it, and that was a good post although I must confess I didn't read all of it properly. Whenever there's a potentially good film with a bit of hype, one of these previews always spoils it by telling you the ending or giving away the whole film, so I can't stand to read them until I've seen the film. Anyway, both films coming out this year so it looks like there should be something to look forward to at the cinema this year. :)
i am sooooo excited bout the new matrix. the ads ive seen so far llok bloody amazing. from what ive heard the Wachowskis have gone even further with their amazing tecnolgy and fight scenes. if thats true then i am seriously looking forward to it as i was blown away by the first film. roll on next friday

hypocrite.

What is your problem Sparky? I said I hadn't read it all properly because I wanted to see the film without any spoilers. I'm sure there are people who did want the background information to the film there, so they did read it. I read the rest of the post about the film's projected box office and the wide demographic who seem keen to see this flim, along with other information about further projected releases such as upcoming third Matrix film and Terminator 3.

I don't think I'm the only one here who's a bit tired of your one sentence flaming attempts, which contribute absolutely nothing to discussions. If you weren't so self-righteous and full of yourself, I might actually start caring about what you post.

Alright. Keep it clean the both a yaz.

Personally I'll wait until it comes out on DVD and everyone else on the planet buys it, then I can borrow it off someone.

The first one was a really average film, if you take away the stunning special effects. I have hordes of reasons why I don't like the first one. It's not that bad, it's just not that good either.

That said, I shall watch this one with an open mind, and if they've remembered to include a plot, not steal a concept, or give away the twists before they happen, and somewhere along the way Keanu has lost his woodenness, and they've learn what characterisation means, then it should be pretty good.

Hear bloody hear.

I've always considered myself to be a mate of yours Sparky - well, a 'net mate anyway - but you've been unbearable recently. It's almost as if you go out of your way to cause trouble and be cynical.

Must be the hormones...

To be fair, I'm not that looking forward to the Matrix sequel, mainly because its gonna have to be darn impressive on the storyline and special effects front, as well as innovative, to beat the sequel. But hey, I'd love to be proved wrong.

First off it was a frickin joke. You know where people laugh, i thought you in particular would get it seeing as you made a post in the general chat forum where you said how come no one's said anything about my rather large posts yet so I made what i thought to be a humourous comment. You want to start a flaming war then go ahead, I'll have plenty of ammo although personally seeing as this is a website about wrestling it'd be stupid if I tried acting like I was hard or macho.

Second Sabba what thehell are you talking about? The onlt thing me and you have conflicted over is your love of S Club *sniggers*. I find this funny as you must be the only Millwall fan over the age of 7 who likes S Club but ha sue me. To be honest i'm gettin kinda tired of postin here and was thinkin of leavin anyway but seein as none of you would give a shit as I'm so "self righteous" and "full of yourself". If you actually read more of my posts or spoke to me on the net you might realise I'm quite possibly the most un-full of myself person you could talk to but meh I digress. Frankly I don't want your MSN addy and i'm sure you don't want mine. There, is that non-confrontational enough for you?

An apology

OK. I couldn't tell that it was a joke, because it was just that reply without any smilies or anything to indicate that you were just poking a bit of fun, so if that was how that comment was meant then I am sorry for reacting to it in the wrong way. I can see now what you meant. since on the face of it that sentence you picked out to use for that comment doesn't make a lot of sense. Being hypocritical and writing long posts aren't things that I relate to each other though, so that goes some way to explaining why I didn't get it. That and the fact that I'm a thick bastard. If you do something like put a smiley in with it, or if it's phrased so that it's obviously a joke, then I can handle that. It was just that what you said was only one word so I couldn't tell that it was a joke.

Remember that time when Miss T started the thread about profiles, and you read mine and compared me with Fat Bastard from Austin Powers? That was obviously a joke, and I could see that and found it quite funny. Had I known that other comment was meant in jest I wouldn't have taken offence either, but I didn't so I reacted. With that in mind I have some explaining to do, so I will if you're still reading.

No I don't want to start a flaming war, I just thought (having misunderstood your post) that I needed to stand up for myself, something which I now realise was completely unnecessary. I'm not the only one who's taken exception to stuff you've said recently, as I've seen the S Club thread in the music forum where you've said that Kam, ChrisfromBirtley and Sabba Simba were 'queens'. To be honest, when I saw Sabba say 'Does that make me a queen as well Sparky?' and you just replied with 'Yes', I actually thought that was quite funny because I thought 'he's just giving him a wind-up here'. It was only when Sabba responded to that and then you said 'No. That's your argument f***ed then isn't it?' that I thought hang on, it sounds like he actually means this stuff. Looking at it now, that looks more like you defending yourself from Sabba misinterpreting what you said. The thing is, if your response then had just been to make it clear that that was a joke, I wouldn't have taken it the wrong way when you had a wee dig at me as well. I can take a joke if I get it, but when I think someone is seriously having a go at me then I let it be known that I don't appreciate it. In the chat a while ago it even got to the stage where I was due to wrestle some random never-before-met guy in a nightclub, since they were flaming me and everyone in there, which shows you how much of a tit I can be when I put on the sanctimonious blinkers. If anyone is 'self-righteous' or full of their own importance in situations like that it's me, so since I did that to you when it was uncalled for, I apologise for being a tw*t.

Guilty as charged, but I'll explain. When I saw that comment and didn't know it was a joke, placed that alongside the S Club comments and one or two (can't remember if it's one or two) posts I've seen of yours where it's been edited for flaming warnings (I can't remember what the threads were but go back through your posts, you'll see it somewhere) then I thought 'this guy needs taken down a peg or two if he feels so superior to be able to judge other people like that'. Of course, now that I see that that ties in with your kind of humour I can appreciate that a lot more, and rightly feel like an arsehole for putting my foot in it. When I said 'self-righteous' and 'full of yourself' I was basing those comments on that opinion, which was wrong, so I was wrong, and I completely take back what I said.

The fact is that I don't know you particularly well at all, so in fact I was the one who was 'self-righteous' and 'full of myself' when I made that statement, since I was the one being the judgmental dickhead. Sometimes when people get on their high horses they need taken down a peg or two, and you've done that with me by making me realise that I was the one being disrespectful and getting the wrong end of the stick. The fact is that I never did much online talking other than e-mails with people I already knew, so this is still a fairly new thing to me and without personal contact I'm not the best judge of character. That's no excuse though since I was in the wrong, and again, I apologise for that.

If you're getting tired of posting here, and you just feel that way, then be sure to let us know that you're going to take a leave of absence before you go ahead and do it. Regardless of what you think of me, there are plenty of others at TWO who care enough to want to know what your intentions are. If you are tired of posting on the forums here or of the internet in general then fair enough, but do it for your own reasons rather than because me or Sabba or whoever pissed you off by misunderstanding you. Now that you've made yourself clear, there ought not to be any more misunderstandings. I can see why you might just think that lately it's been hassle you could do without, or maybe you just feel that you want to move on in your life in a different way. I don't know, but let TWO know, because whatever you may think there are those of us (including myself, now that I realise how wrong I was) who would care if you decided to atop posting here, and at the very least would want to wish you well for the future and let you know that they would like to see you back here sometime. You might be cynical about that, but personally if I didn't care, I wouldn't be taking the time especially at this hour when I have a ton of exam revision to do (about fifteen foreign texts plus expressions and general language studies to do by Tuesday might) to write this reply to you and express my concern at this misunderstanding between us.

Frankly I don't want your MSN addy and i'm sure you don't want mine. There, is that non-confrontational enough for you?

I can understand completely why you would feel that way. However, I do have yours and I don't plan on deleting it any time soon. The fact is, for all that I have MSN, I don't really use it that much, so I don't really talk to people even if I do go online. When you added my addy I put yours on my contacts list, but since then we haven't had a conversation on MSN. It is a two-way thing, for all that I haven't made much effort to speak to you the reverse is also true. To be fair I don't really instigate that may chats with people from TWO even when I go on MSN, and if I do it's usually if I'm bored at work during the day (Goldy seems to be the only one who has to endure my ramblings on Friday afternoons!) or late at night (Dra has probably had it the most there). I've not seen you online at those times really, so one way or another it hasn't happened on my part. If you've been too soured by what I said before then I understand if you don't want to know me. Frankly I can be a pain in the arse at the best of times, even when I'm not annoying people or snapping at them because of my own misapprehensions. First impressions are important, but they aren't everything. You're not the first person I've misread and some of my better friends now are people who I wanted nothing to do with when I first met simply because I didn't give them enough of a chance to get to know them properly before I passed judgment on them. For instance, one of my flatmates from last year is only just back on terms with me because I spent a large part of our time together being a stubborn arsehole and not having anything to do with her, just because I didn't see things from her perspective. You'd think I'd learn wouldn't you? Wrong. I'm still an idiot sometimes, and in your case I've proven that pretty comprehensively.

That is about all I have to say about the whole thing, I don't know that you'll reply to it but in any case I'm cool with it, I just felt after reading your post that the least you deserved was an apology from me and I deserved to eat some humble pie, so there you go. I jumped to the wrong comclusions about this and I'm sorry.

Apology accepted mate. Thinking back over it I should have added a little smiley to make it clear that it was a joke or something, much like with the "No.That's your argument ****ed then isn't it?" thingamajig. However some of the stuff I said in my post was stupid because I was pissed off at the time. I've had exams all week and yesterday majorly flopped a maths exam as well as been kicked off an Duke of Edinburgh trip, which, while some of it was my fault i personally felt was unfair. As a result of this, my cow of a mum has said I can not go to Slane festival this year, where pretty much every band I wanted to see live for the past two years are playing. I was also meeting up with about 20 of my mates who live in ireland so at the moment I'm not the happiest bunny in the land.

That bein said no it's no excuse for me acting like a twat and for that I'm sorry. I don't want to sound too much of a girl here but I shouldn't have said I don't want your MSN addy as on the whole you've been a pretty cool guy so it was dumb of me to say that. And i'd just like to point out I was windin up Sabba with the "Yes" response as I thought people would find it funny. I do have a strange sense of humour and people do misinterpret it so I have no problem with people doing that as it's happened before so to me it's understandable. So basically don't sweat it, all is understood and it wasn't you and Sabba's fault that I said I was thinkin about leavin, I had been for a long time as I have more work coming up at school and my work experience and everythin and as it's summer will more than likely be goin down the park with my mates and playin football although that won't be happenin if the weather stays as crap as it is now.

Such is life :roll

Good to see you guys worked it out.

Anyway, this is a note to say you can catch The Matrix, the Animatrix and the Making of the Matrix: Reloaded on Wednesday, channel 5.

Reloaded: breif review

Alright well I saw the Matrix Reloaded and I have to say, It was dissapointing, you go in with really high expectations and the film just doesn't deliver what it promises. That said it was quite enjoyable and there were many great action sequences; The agent Smith fight, the Highway scene and the many battles that Neo has with the enimies. The problem is it becomes boring at times such as when they're in Zion and so on.

The special effects and digital cinematography make for some breathtaking sequences. Exept every now and then when a person has been animated to allow these affects, the fact that they are animated means that they dont look real and you can instantly see and think "Hey that's not Neo that's some crappy CG Neo"

The film has it's high's and it's low's, the thing is not to go in with huge expectations expecting this to be the best film you ever saw, because that isn't gonna happen. However it is still well worth seeing and makes for a great movie. I've put it down a little more than I probably should have as it is a great film. It's just not an absolutely amazing film.

Why such high expectations after the first one was so average?

I watched it yesterday and loved it, it had some stunning scenes and the music fitted them great too.

Cant wait for the 3rd one now.

Although I dont think I was ever hyped up as much as some people I've spoken to were.

May i ask if people are waiting till the end of the credits for the trailer of the 3rd film because it's there.

No....I missed it!

Although I'm sure I'll see it around somewhere.

That reminds me the trailers before this were ridiculous, I think it was suppose to start at 1.30 but it didnt actually start until just before 2.

i cant wait for Revolutions!!!!

it will complete this awesome movie and let us all FINALLY know if Neo has what it takes to free Zion(sp)
