Beckham to Barcelona?

Hey,

Look at this interesting story from bbc.co.uk :

Manchester United have admitted they are in contact with Barcelona about the possible sale of David Beckham.

Old Trafford's chief executive Peter Kenyon met Sandro Rosell, a representative of Barcelona's new president-elect, Joan Laporta, in London on Tuesday.

The two discussed details of the Spanish club's proposed £30m summer bid.

Rosell also spoke to Beckham's own representatives.

Beckham's agent Jon Holmes of the SFX Group suggested that his client was not necessarily on his way out of Old Trafford.

"He has said that he wants to stay with United," said Holmes.

"If the club alter their view - and it needs all parties to change their view - then, of course, everything is possible in football."

Kenyon had hoped to keep the discussions confidential but admitted he had been in talks before he flew back to Manchester.

"I don't want to confirm anything. But given that it has come out in Spain, I don't think you would be stupid writing it," he said.

Laporta has promised to sign the 28-year-old, but the midfielder has maintained that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.

The Catalan giants cannot make a firm bid for Beckham until the new club president is unveiled after the club's elections on 15 June.

Cheers.

He'll leave for sure - can't say I will miss him - we'll get Harry Kewell, Ronaldinho and Ricardo Quarasama - that's good enough for me :)

As for my Man Utd team in Championship Manager - that's a different story - I'll try to post up pictures of it later :)

Unless The New Barcelona President makes a large cash injection i cant see where they will get the money..

I have heard AC Milan are set to make a bid of a similar stature..

However I will be surprised if he goes anywhere to be honest..

Yeah, I'd heard Barca were in big financial trouble - they were meant to be trying to offload Kluivert.

I'm not sure if the deal will happen, I have my doubts, but you would have thought United would have denied it. They haven't done that as of yet.

Aslong as we get Ronaldinho, Makaay/Kluivert, a keeper and a defender, then I dont really mind if Becks leaves. Im sure Veron or Ronaldinho can do just as well on set pieces.

Hard to tell what to make of it, last month him joining Real Madrid was apparntly a done deal according to the media.

For Beckham a move to Barca might not be that appealing, they wont be playing Champions League football next season (which will no doubt increase there debts all ready reported to be around 90 million) and will probaly end up having to qualify for the UEFA cup thru the Inter Toto cup (meaning they'll have to scrap there planned MLS tour with Utd and Celtic which will cost them more millions).

Forget AC Milan - it is difficult - Beckham is personally sponsored by Vodafone but AC's sponsors are Italian mobile phone company called TIM or something.

Samba Ron is defifently coming to Man Utd - £9million fee was agreed - all there is left is to agree personal terms with Ron himself.

If you sign Harry Kewell, Ronaldinho and this Ricardo guy, I'll eat my ring.

Well, The Vulcanized One - be ready as us Red Devils has already agreed with Ronaldinho - £9million fee to be exact.

As for the follows:

Harry Kewell: Is a possiblity - unless he gets what he wants (£70,000 a week and a place in the starting line up everytime) - he'll be playing for the Red Devils.

Ricardo Quarasema: A high possiblity - both parties are interested.

I think it's time he moved on, £30M isn't to be sniffed at and personally I don't think as a footballer he's worth that.

The Ronanldinho deal is supposed to be done and dusted, well it looks like it's probably on but I never believe a player is moving anywhere until I see him in their stadium hoding their shirt.

I'd like to see us sell Beckham and bring in Kewell and Quarasema, who's a fantastic prospect, but I also like the sound of Gareth Southgate signing, if the price is right.

We also need a new Keeper, personally I'd swap Beckham for Buffon.

As much as i dislike Beckham (except in an England shirt :) ) I think they would get a bargain paying 30 million as his merchandise sales potential is huge so they will recoup alot of the initial layout that way. I think it's a cert thats hes off now, still so long as he takes that wife of his! :D Edited by Goldy

Buffon is over-rated in my opinion. We should get Rustu, the turkish keeper.
