Roddy Plays The Piper

Since March 31, 2003, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (“WWE”) and Roderick Toombs, p/k/a “Roddy Piper”, have attempted to negotiate the terms of an arrangement for Roddy to appear on WWE programming through August of this year. The parties have been unable to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.

On Tuesday, June 24, Piper appeared on an HBO program and revealed disturbing facts about his own personal drug use. Piper stated that he used drugs for many years while working in professional wrestling and that he does not like the person that he becomes when he actively performs as a professional wrestler.

In view of WWE’s inability to reach agreement on a contract and to assist Piper from engaging in any self destructive behavior, the WWE is ending any further discussion with Piper regarding a contract.

The WWE sincerely hopes for Piper and his family that Roddy can find happiness.

NA NA NA, NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY, GOODBYE!!! :D

Ah! Crap.

And according to Piper they were just starting to take the crap off WWE TV to allow him to go back on it. So now that Piper has gone that can only mean more necrophillia!!!!

In all seriousness, I have never been the biggest Piper fan, the guy has a high intesity which can make him fun to watch at times. But the guy does have a huge ego, if he could get away with it I think he would take credit for the whole of the pro wrestling world.

The guy isnt that great. He has never been a good wrestler. He was invloved in a fued with Hogan back in the day but then again so was King Kong Bundy and Paul Orndoff. Im not knocking either of these guys. I think in their own ways they were better in-ring competitors than Piper. Orndoff was always good to watch whereas Bundy was a true monster.

I have to admit that I was looking forward to the return of Pipers Pit, but it never really took off. The guy didnt, for whatever reason, cut any great promos and he looked horrible in his match against the Hulkster...............I mean Mr.America.

Bye Bye Roddy.

Hey at least now he can add another few chapters to his book thrashing the WWE for the way the company is being run and the way they 'abused' him on his return. Which un-doubtly he will do.

Man oh man

Good riddance Mr. Piper. I'm sorry, I know that sounds really harsh, but you can't honestly think that paying "Hot Rod" for his out-of-date antics, bad promo's, and managerial skills for Sean O'Haire is a big mistake. Has anybody seen Sean O'Haire lately, I think he can handle himself on his own, and doesn't need any direction from Roddy Piper, especially since he openly admitted that his life has been plagued by pill poppin, and tippin' the bottle. I think that Hulk Hogan still has some draw power, not via the Mr. America angle, but draw power nonetheless. But Roddy Piper is long overdue for retirement from the business. Put him behind the scenes, like a Sarge Slaughter type, and every once in awhile, give him the opportunity to shine. (Even though Sarge hasn't been living up to par as of late.....hnhmmhmhmhmhmmh.)

In his latest WWE role, he was useless. He was taking heat off of O'Haire, he looked horribly out of shape and the Pipers' Pits were just wastes of time.

He could have been used better, but it was obvious that WWE were never going to admit that he was preventing O'Haire from being one of Smackdown!'s biggest stars, so I'm kinda glad that he's gone.

I'm dissappointed. On the whole I enjoyed Piper's return as a heel, and although I'll admit they should have kept him out of the ring, he was entertaining... about as entertaining as the guy could be in the position the WWE put him.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I'm sad to see Piper go so soon. His run in with Jericho at Judgment Day was classic, and I was hoping there'd be more to come from the man. Ah well. Bye :(

Piper was a great talker and brawler (his in-ring work was that bad either as his IC Title match with Bret Hart showed) in his day and big draw in the late 70s & early to mid 80s for various promotions.

His last run was a big disappointment, his mic work was a shadow of what it used to be and his body is so badly banged up to the point where its embarrassing watching him to anything in the ring.

I will agree that Piper is not very good entertainment nowadays but he was one of the best in his prime, and we the fans should respect him for everything he has done. I want to wish Piper luck in getting help with his issues.

From http://www.wrestlingobserver.com

'Roddy Piper was officially announced as being let go tonight after the conclusion of the taped Smackdown show where he did the job for Eddy Guerrero in a tag match.

WWE claimed that since Piper had not signed his new contract, which would have run through August, and "to assist Piper from engaging in any self destructive behavior," they have ceased doing business with him.

This came as no surprise, as it would have been impossible for Piper to co-exist in the locker room after his appearance on the HBO special.

But to the general public, once again, the WWE comes off looking worse than ever.'

Just to let you all know, the reason why Piper was let go was because of negative-WWE comments made during a HBO special about pro wrestling and drugs.

Go and have a good cry now Cactus. If you have a problem with me, come out and say it, instead of being taking pathetic pot-shots.
