Hi, I'm about to open a new web site (details later) and I'm going to included a section about Wrestling. For someone who doesn't know much about wrestling should I talk about wrestling on a whole, or the WWF? Any more suggestions about what to include would be great

Hmmmmm,

You should look at everything EXCEPT the WWF just to start off with, make your site the alternative website and you'll probably rake in the hits.

Hi All, I've made a start on the opening section. feed back is very appreciated!:

Welcome to the ZaneyWrestling page. Here you'll find all the information as to why professional wrestling has become a popular form of entertainment.

Perhaps the most recognisable federation is the Vince McMahon

run WWF. Vince McMahon revolutionised wrestling in the 1980's from a regional company to its present worldwide status by introducing stars like Hulk Hogan who has starred in many movies, The Rock who has featured in The Mummy Returns 2 and The Scorpion King and last but not least Stone Cold Steve Austin who evoked the WWF's "Attitude" era. Below is a brief history of the WWF:

During the 1980's wrestling had become extremely popular. At

the head of the wrestling industry was the World Wrestling Federation, and their champion Hulk Hogan. They had competition from companies such as the NWA, WCCW, AWA, and the USWA. None of them could come close to the national attention the WWF had gained, though. However, things changed in the early 90's. Ted Turner bought out the NWA and formed WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This new organization quickly started to gain respect from wrestling fans because the WWF's programming quality had deteriorated without any seroius

competition. In 1994, WCW acquired wrestling's biggest name, and most importantly the WWF's biggest name, Hulk Hogan. Their ratings began to go higher than the WWF's, and they were selling more merchandise. WCW had taken over the WWF as the number one wrestling company, and the WWF was left to pick up the

And how did they do that? With "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin

had been with WCW previously as part of the tag-team with Brain Pillman as the Hollywood Blonde's. After being fired by post from the WCW because of injury, the WWF quickly snapped him up and repackaged him as "The Ringmaster".

Fortunately, in hindsight, the gimmick never took off. While sitting at home, Austin's girlfriend told him that he better drink his cup of tea quickly before it becomes Stone Cold. A gimmick was born.

Austin returned as the newly repackaged Stone Cold Steve Austin. Wrestling had always been conducted in a certain way. The good guy fought the bad guy, just like the movies. But things started to change. The fans were cheering for the bad guy, Stone Cold Steve Austin, when they were supposed to be booing him. The WWF quickly capitalised on this by changing their style. No longer did superhero type good guys defeat evil bad guys. Now the tough guys who didn't care what the fans thought became

popular. Austin's middle finger salute to fellow wrestlers whipped the fans into frenzies. The established good guys were now acting arrogant and cocky.

With the help of owner Vince McMahon, the WWF started marketing wrestling differently. It wasn't being geared toward kids, but now to a more mature audience. Merchandising sales went up, attendance to shows went up, even the television ratings went up. By 1998, the World Wrestling Federation was undoubtedly back on top. They've stayed there ever since, and show no signs of coming down.

In 2001, Vince McMahon had built the WWF to such a status the

he was able to buy his most fierce rival, WCW, out of business. In July 2001, the WWF presented a wrestling fans dream of a super card at the Pay Per View "Invasion" that involved wrestlers from the WWF, WCW, and ECW, America's third biggest federation before going bankrupt.

Cact,

It's about the WWF, I usually go out of my way not to read stuff about it.

You should look at NWA Wildside (Conscience, Majik, Psycho Steve and Drexel travel out to do TV Tapings next week) or SCW in Florida, whose fans have invaded the Scottish SCW Fan Forum.

I agree Kenny, but to start with I'm branching out to those that know little or nothing. If you ask some to word associate wrestling, the immedialty say WWF or The Rock. After that, I'll branch out to the "veterens" of wrestling like me and yourself.
