But dont' have an answer, post here!

Without sounding retarded, is the bleached, spiky haired, face painting Sting the same Sting or recent times that was black haired and gothic like? If so, why did he change his appearence so much?

It was the same Sting.

I suppose he wanted a change, and thought he would update his gimmick.

In the storyline, the WCW wrestlers thought he was with the NWO (because the NWO had a fake Sting), so he got pissed off and left. He then came back as the no talking Sting, and was over huge!

When Sting returned, it was Scott Hall's idea for the Stinger to use the gothic gimmick, inspired by the film, 'The Crow'. If anyone cares about useless trivia...

Sting is, was and will always be the most over-rated wrestler to EVER lace up a pair of boots...the guy can't even reverse a hammerlock for christ sake.

Kinda harsh, sure Sting wasn't great towards the end but in his day, look at the other maineventers of the era.

Luger, Vader, Flair, Rude, Windham in WCW. Hogan, Savage, Ultimate Warrior in WWF.

Had some good matches with Vader, and the nWo that everyone loved initially, would only have been half as good without Sting going on a tear through it.

Sting had been stale towards the end but there was a time he was at the top of the sport, and quite rightly too bearing in mind who else was about.
