@KaliR , it looked like a mix of covering up, not wanting to spook the local population too much, and carefully timing announcements based on what other countries were saying and doing.

I never used Zoom for social gathering online. As far as I know there is time limit for each session on Zoom. Or am I missing something?

Yeah, if it's a group of 2 or more, Zoom kicks everyone out in 40 minutes. You get a 10-minute warning, at least. I know that there's a Pro service for a monthly fee, but I don't use it enough to pay for uninterrupted time.

I'm taking my time with this. On the 4th of the 7 original episodes (an 8th got added recently). It keeps getting weirder and sadder.

I noticed that right after the postponement announcement, Japan's government and/or media got a lot more transparent about the C19 spread within the country.

Have you seen this yet? I just started the second episode. Not sure if it's a binge watch for me, but for sure it's not a boring story! Pretty crazy.

 

Silicon Valley was hilarious. I was bummed when I got to the end! Now, I'm slowly binge watching Violet Evergarden (Netflix anime) and The Sopranos.

@Boomer, Toy Story 4 was a big hit last year. Have you watched it yet? Thank you for your recommendations, as well.

Another great one is The Iron Giant.

I'm also thinking postponement, maybe even waiting until 2021. Various national groups are asking for delays. I wouldn't be surprised if the games got cancelled, very unfortunately.

My top picks are Toy Story and Toy Story 2. They're really well-written and hilarious. My next is a tie between Kiki's Delivery Service and Spirited Away. Such amazing details.

I finally started Silicon Valley. It has that Mike Judge touch (think Office Space but with tech startup guys) where there's lots of awkward moments.

This was great. My favorite scene is when the soldier sings "Wayfaring Stranger" in the forest. Sad and beautiful — the song and the men.

I can picture how it must have felt seeing your friends celebrate their birthdays. Did they taunt you frequently?

I don't think they ever did. Also, I didn't tell friends my birthday and they didn't ask when it was anyway. Looking back, I don't think I really missed out.

My parents never celebrated their birthdays and didn't throw anything for their kids. I just followed suit. I was jealous for a while of classmates and friends who had birthday parties all throughout their childhoods.

I'll look into hiring a cleaning service once it's physically too tough for me to do it myself. But I know what you mean, @whaleshark

I've never rewatched a whole series from start to finish, but sometimes I'm in the mood to rewatch certain episodes over and over. One of my favorites is "The Dinner Party" from The IT Crowd.

I don't think I could last at a book club. Even when I'm reading for fun, I either get obsessed and read the book overnight – or get through maybe a few pages a week.

I've been seeing way more use of "space" in non-physical (social, political) ways. "Giving a space for..." or "In this space..." I guess as a substitute for "area" or "platform"?

I'm thinking of seeing it again, a one-day rental. Has anyone watched it a second time? I'm wondering what I missed from the first time.

I've spent time there. I like the cloudy, cold, and sprinkle-y weather. Traffic sucks there and among the surrounding towns, though, and it seems like the city keeps becoming more like one big Amazon campus.

There are scenes from a lot of 2019 movies that I thought were spectacular, but when it comes to checking off just a couple more boxes than others, so far that's Parasite. However, I'm waiting for 1917 this weekend. That could take the top spot.

There's no way I can quit, maybe ever...! There's always a bill to pay off and unfortunately, I also have debt to pay down. Credit cards are the devil. But on the plus side, I do enjoy the structure of meeting deadlines and feeling helpful.

The actress, Monica Ruiz, got offered a part on a soap opera, and she's been on at least one talk show plus a number of articles. Seems like the actor got shut out (cancelled?) though.

What did he say when you caught him — or did he act like he wasn't snooping? I don't think you're unreasonable for being peeved!

My never ending resolution is staying employed. A future financial goal is saving enough for another overseas trip. Yeah, it's better to set goals that aren't so much about getting to the one year mark.
