  1. In the UK I'd say that Jimmy Savile fell the hardest. He sexually abused just about everyone he could. His victim list included people from ages 5 to 75. He often targeted the most vulnerable like those who were hospitalised and those who were orphans. The disgusting old bat is dead and I believe that is what ended is reign of terror. He died in 2011, so he just meets the decade time frame. He was knighted, he was respected for his charity work, and now he's loathed.
  2. I wonder what will happen with anti-doping violations and sanctions. Will those athletes have to sit out for a longer period of time or will the clock continue running which would allow them to essentially get off scot-free? Neither option seems fair to be honest.
  3. Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt star in 12 Monkeys which is a film about a deadly virus that destroyed most of humanity and involves time travel to find the original source of the virus in hopes of developing a cure. It's an older film, but the action and suspense is good.
  4. I thought the Harry Potter franchise ended well. Breaking Bad had an excellent ending, whether you count the last episode in the telly series or the Netflix movie "El Camino" as the finale.

Furious 7 also did a spectacular job closing out the Paul Walker era in terrible circumstances (though WAY better than TRoS, it has to be said).

I recently binged the Fast and Furious franchise and the films were surprisingly good. I expected fast cars, but got much more than that. My favourite was "Tokyo Drift." The "Fate of the Furious" was fine, but had some gaping plotholes too. Dom buddying up with Deckard, even though he killed Han, was just weird and never explained.

  5. Just light maintenance like that for a couple minutes at a time here and there does help make it real easy overall.

That's my philosophy too. Just spending a few minutes a day tidying up during small breaks makes a world of difference. Then I'm not stuck cleaning a huge mess at the weekend. I share a tiny London flat and we donated a bunch of stuff that was good, but we hardly ever used. The flat looks much better and is easier to clean just from doing that.

  6. I'm a childcare provider, so I'm considered a key worker, but I'm doing a lot of things online through Skype. I report to one family three days a week who works for the NHS. On my other two days I teach lessons and lead activities over Skype. It's taken some getting used to, but I feel better staying in as much as possible.
  7. Thanks to the ace advice here, we had a lovely Christmas meal. Mum finally caved and got the word out that there would be no religious or political debates while visiting. They needed to take that down to the pub if it was such an issue. I took the advice about asking lots of questions to get relatives chatting about themselves and it had a massive impact on keeping things positive. I think the drone scandal at Gatwick airport helped us along too. Unlike Brexit, this was something we could all agree was rotten and we felt terrible for those who had to cancel their holiday plans. Verbally noting how lucky we were to be together helped loads.
  8. I would throw in Rousey and Cyborg. I'm a Rousey fangirl, always have been, but she lost all that weight because she was afraid to fight Cyborg. With the proper training and a bit of confidence I think Rousey could take her down. Cyborg is a sloppy fighter who relies on her heft. Rousey has the natural talent and hard work ethic to get it done.

For the men I'd throw in Cormier and Lesnar just because Cormier seems to want it so badly.

GSP Vs Connor MacGregor, just to see Georges defeated mentally in the press conference, and physically in the fight.

I used to think that GSP was overrated, but the bloke has grown on me. I like your plan.

  9. I've run into a bit of a dilemma where some friends and family derail every conversation with angry comments about Brexit, Teresa May, Tony Blair, Trump, immigrants, the economy, religion, and other tumultuous subjects. I can't solve things by uninviting these people to our holiday meal as some are close family and their absence will be noticed and mourned by others. We're going to have to smooth it over instead. How can I help keep the conversation civilized? When someone veers towards the deep end, how can I quickly move the conversation back to more lighthearted topics? I'd like to make a blanket rule about leaving these topics at the door, but my mum is afraid it will seem fussy.

  10. I've read that the Disney streaming service is surprisingly good, but I'm not quite ready to pay for another entertainment subscription service. If you wind up subscribing I hope you'll let us know what you think about it. Loki is such a lovable character.
  11. I like some of Quinton Tarantino's work, but he's a bit hit-or-miss for me. Steven Spielberg can do no wrong though, so I'd pick him. Maybe I could meet E.T.

If you could host an awards show with your best friend or significant other would you host the Oscars or the VMAs?
