  1. Some brief RAW thoughts: -The Heart Throbs should just quit. They can never be taken even remotely seriously as a threat after that. -Haha, the 'wrestler unable to pronounce the name of their PPV' problem strikes again. Several of them seemed to think they were wrestling at New Year's 'Resolution' last year, and I guess the same is going to happen again. -Vince never actually gave his review of the Bret DVD did he? Oh well, next weeks main event - Vince McMahon reviews War of the Worlds on DVD.
  2. That just makes the stupidly long segments wasted on the Diva Search even more frustrating. What is it with getting divas to pose for Playboy then releasing them? Guess this means Candice will be gone this time next year though, hurrah!
  3. Can't believe it :( Obvious thing to say, but it won't be the same without him. RIP Eddie.
  4. Some brief thoughts: If you told me yesterday that RAW would open with Stephanie McMahon followed by a Doink the Clown match, I'd have called you a flithy liar. WWE crew members really need to form a union. The amount of physical abuse they take from their employers just ain't right dammit. A new woman wrestler? Wow, that's 3 now then! 4 if Lita gets involved again. Does that count as a 'division' yet? Cena really wants a BJ from a man. Asks Angle to put his piece in his mouth, asks Edge to blow him and Carlito to choke on nuts. No luck though, best go backstage and see if Pat Patterson is around I guess. Angle getting a clean pin over Cena gave me a warm feeling inside. :D Can I put working for the WWE on my CV? Hope Vince will give me a good reference, despite the firing. Glad the announcers acknowledged the internet rumours JR would be fired on the show, made me think 'well if they're mentioning it, maybe it's not going to be him'. Obviously it became clear it was, but at least it wasn't a formality waiting for it.
  5. I enjoyed Smackdown more than Raw this week, which is unusual. I'm guessing that should be the end of the Eddie V Rey & Batista V JBL feuds, maybe the US title one too, so it'll be interesting to see where things go over the next week or 2. Good to see in Kennedy & Burchill that WWE are adding new people to the roster who don't suck for a change (Morgan, Reigns, Heidenreich etc.) One thing I was left wondering...if WWE had thought about it, would they have changed Burchill's name from Paul to Winston? He is from England after all! ;)
  6. It did seem somewhat of an anti-climax. No music for a big pop & the commentators never mentioned Hardy by name or acknowledged he showed up, which just seemed odd. Still, wasn't expecting to see him there, so that was a pleasant surprise at least.
  7. So they swapped Jindrak over in the roster draft so they could release him? Good planning WWE, well done. I enjoyed Kidman & Akio's matches, not to bothered about Maven & Moore.
  8. That made me laugh :P But then I was confused as for some bizarre reason at the very end of the show, JR said something like "they'll get what's coming to them on Sunday! The Harlot!" Eh? Sunday?
  9. I thought that was one of the worst RAWs I'd seen in a while, so much so that Smackdown has been better than it the last coupla weeks which I haven't been able to say for months and months. Did enjoy the 'you screwed Matt', 'we want Matt' & slut chants though, try editing all of them out for the re-runs WWE :P - Hogan's return was fun, though by about the 10th time he and HBK had done Hogan's poses for the crowd, I was all for Hassan & Davari coming back and beating them down just to end it. - Masters thing was a waste of time, give him a match against someone established for a change. - Wasn't really into the tag match even though I love Regal. Good to see another new tag team though. - Does Batista even bother to show up for the first hour of RAW? He's the world champ and yet never appears til well into the 2nd half...bizarre. If the HHH V JR match was 5 mins, it went on for about 4 minutes 50 seconds too long.
  10. I was just looking through the WWE's UK section and noticed that it has Smackdown in Brum listed as starting at 5.30pm "Date: 04/26/2005 Time: 5:30 p.m. Venue: NEC Arena City/State: Birmingham, England" RAW is down as 7.30, which is what it says on my ticket, but my Smackdown ticket says 7.30 as well, with doors open at 6. Is this just a mistake on WWE's part or should I be glad I found this out before going?
  11. I think I read a while back they'd already filmed some vignettes to build up his return. 'The scar has become a symbol...' etc. Doh.
  12. If WWE let him go, that's a dreadful decision. If he asked to be let go, I guess you can see why, though they have 2 shows so you'd think he could just be on the other... Either way, I'll miss him in the WWE. :(
  13. I thought it was a very entertaining show and don't regret forking out £15 for it (although there were 3 of us so it's split £5 each, but that's besides the point :P) Surprised there were hardly any backstage segments. Think JBl/HHH was the only one. I mean, Batista & Cena win the belts and there hadn't been anything from them on the show beforehand? That's very unusual. No Bischoff or Long either. If there would have been no point to them, fair enough, but perhaps Cena would have got a bigger reaction if he'd had a quick promo backstage with one of the hall of famers instead of them showing one of the Wrestlemanina trailers. Which incidentally, I just saw on the repeat and they've edited out JR forgetting to promote the Backlash PPV despite prompting from King (and then presumably being shouted at by a McMahon down the earpiece), haha! Anyhow; Eddie V Rey: Not a show stealer as it perhaps could have been, but got the PPV off to a good start with some decent moves, though Rey seemed to be constantly readjusting his mask which was a bit annoying. I had Eddie down to win by cheating, so a little surprised that Rey got yet another victory over him, but a solid 7/10 Ladder match: Really enjoyed this, had no idea who was going to win. When Edge did, I was rooting for him to come down after the main event and demand a title shot there and then, hit Batista with a steal chair, start the match and get the belt in less time than it took for Hogan to beat Yokozuna at WM9 (I think). :D Alas, the WWE didn't share my creative genius! Still, 8.5/10 Taker V Orton: Better than I expected, some very nice counters and althoguh a Cowboy Bob run in eas expected, was still good to see. I wonder if the result would have been different if Orton didn't have his injury? 8/10 HBK V Angle: Superb match and the longest angle lock ever! Was pleased Kurt one, was interesting to hear the crowd seemingly split down the middle as to their favourite. 9/10 Big Show V Akebono: Well, least it was kept short...didn't really see the point of it beforehand and still don't after. Perhaps even less so as a Big Show win would have let his character gain even more momentum, but instead he's lost to a guy we'll probably not see on WWE TV again. I can only think they were looknig for a higher Japanese PPV buyrate. Hmm. Minus a point for the close up of Big Show's ass after he was eliminated. 3/10 Trish V Christy: Better than I expected and kept just the right length. Glad they didn't give Christy the win. 5/10 Cena V JBL: It seemed kinda obvious Cena was going to win so was never really into it that much as I've liked JBL as champ. Pretty average really, bit shorter than I expected. Think a stipulation match would have helped. 8 months as champ then to lose it like that isn't good. 6/10 Batista V HHH: I was gonig back and forth as to who'd win throughout the night half expecting HHH to be DQ'd or get an unfair win then Batista to win it at Backlash, or perhaps Davey boy to get the victory after all. Thankfully he did, in a solid match with a great entrance from HHH. 7/10 Overall, I'd give Wrestlemania a very good score of 8, maybe 8.5 as the Piper's Pit/HOF/Hogan segments were fun too, out of 10.
  14. Anyone know if there's going to be any wrestler appearances doing signings etc. before the Raw/Smackdown shows in Birmingham yet?
