  1. No I don't, and won't, but it also means that in the long run I end up suffering from these studios not creating new IPs and simply relying on remasters aimed at people who missed the last gen, instead of creating something good for everyone on the current gen. It's the same reason I don't go to the movies much anymore. It seems most movie studios aren't really bothered about taking risks on anything new, and I fear that is the way the gaming industry is gonna go. You've got guys like Nintendo and Konami making no bones about the fact that they'd like to get into the mobile gaming "pay to play" market, as a way to part you from even more money for a vastly inferior and cheaper to produce product. Games are being released unfinished and demanding you download huge updates to actually make them playable. All the extras you used to grind through a game to unlock are now sold as DLC. And now to cap it all off the studios have started trying to fleece everyone for £50-60 to play a game that only came out a couple of years ago. To be honest, the gaming industry can f*ck off at the moment. Between "gamers" being idiots and bullies, and the companies themselves being greedy b*stards I've lost a lot of the love I used to have for all things game related. I can see why Notch took the money and ran at this point.
  2. I used to love that half the fun of tracking down old games was having to track down the retro system to play them on. That's how I ended up with my Dreamcast, Megadrive and Gamecube. I've kept my old PS2 and my original Xbox, purely because some games aren't playable through backwards compatability. It just grates a little that games that are only a couple of years old are being remastered with a big fat price tag just because we're in the next console generation.

I dunno man, they'd have to do some work, that was "go home" heat if I ever heard it.
  4. Heart of Darkness from the old PS1. With stuff like Abe's Odyssey getting the remaster treatment, and with this being a similar kind of game, I'd really like to see it get a spit and sparkle and a re-release. Although to be perfectly honest, the whole gaming remake/remaster thing is starting to get just as silly as the movie stuff now.

Oh dear Eva Marie, that didn't go well for you at all did it? If the reaction to her simply coming out to promo is anything to go by, she's gonna get booed out of the f*ckin' building when she attempts to work a match.
  6. Hey, so this post contains what could be construed as a massive spoiler, so you know what to do if you don't want anything spoiled for yourselves, right? Good. So Marvel and Lucasfilm are currently 6 issues deep into their new Star Wars comic book, which has been confirmed as canon by the people at Lucasfilm. Well in Issue 6 something...strange happens.
  7. I actually thought John Goodman was better in that movie.
  8. Dude, you might want to go back and check out the 2 seasons you missed. There's quite a lot of info in there if you're bothered.
  9. I could go for an XBLA remake of NARC. That'd be pretty damn sweet.
  10. I'd assume, but don't quote me on it, that Hancock is referencing Charlize Theron "doing a Ripley" while playing the role of Furiosa in the movie?
  11. That bit of CGI is literally the only bit of the film where I thought "meh", the rest of it was great. But then I realised that the film is released in 3D too, so obviously we all know every 3D film has to have at least one obligatory set piece where something flies towards the camera. The fact they only did that once, and in such a noticeable "here's your 3D bit, enjoy it f*ckers" way means I can't be mad about it. I pretty much agree with everything Hancock said about the film. Still don't get why Tom Hardy chose to use a Bane-esque voice for this one though...
  12. Has everyone watched Coldplay's "Game of Thrones: The Musical" yet? If not, you all need to get on it, if only for the scene where everyone turns up to the rehearsals.
  13. Sweet Jeebus, someone's only gone and mashed up the Star Wars trailer with the David Hasselhoff Kung Fury song.

    Problems at TNA?

Please God let them respond with an e-mail that says "Takes one to know one"

    Problems at TNA?

And then there's folks like Sunny who get naked for you on Skype for money. Yeugh.
  16. I don't think they really mattered to anyone outside the UK, so not really.

I'm hyped, but I'm also deeply saddened at the loss of Dschingis Khan as entrance music.
  18. It's pretty bland and generic really, but what are we expecting at this point. CFO$ seems to fluke a good one every now and then (when he's ripping something else off), but some of his new themes have been the drizzlin' shizzles. They totally need to swap the guy out singing Hallelujah. I know it's the whole point of the song, but at least switch him out for a chick singer or something? Ah well, at least I've got Kenny Omega's new Bullet Club music to keep me happy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUSqeekFB6E This version lets you hear the music a bit better without JR talking over it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhgALrIdEu4 It hasn't been released by NJPW yet, but gosh I love it. Just when I thought he couldn't top using the Dr Wily music. :wub
  19. Personally I don't really like gaming on my laptop. It just doesn't feel...comfortable, I guess? And to make it comfortable, it involves a whole load of faff each time with plugging the laptop into my TV and fiddling with controllermate to customise my controls and gumph. It's a hell of a lot easier to hit the power button on a console and veg out on the sofa. I'm fairly sue I'll always be a "computer for working/surfing, console for gaming" kind of guy.
  20. The only thing I can't figure out is how Minecraft fits into this. The game is a bonafide blockbuster, but has no story, no missions, nothing other than what you decide to make of it. I can't think of a comparison for anything else like it anywhere in entertainment, it's just it's own phenomenon.
  21. In a way the movie industry and the game industry are actually very similar. In both it's very rare to have a "blockbuster" actually live up to the hype and expectation. But then every once in a while a great one comes along and knocks everyone's collective socks off. You've got your little indie low budget things, that sometimes bubble up into the mainstream just because they're so damn good. The actually quite a few comparisons to be made if you sit and think about it, and that is probably where gaming is going wrong. Some developers understand that they have a much more in depth interactive medium to tell a story with, but there's an increasing number that just want to give you a short (5-6 hours) movie(ish) experience that looks very pretty and tells a story of sorts, but by no means justifies the budget and the whopping initial price tag. I'm looking at you The Order 1886.
  22. The big companies have already lost me a little with the whole debacle that is releasing unfinished games then expecting you to download a 16gb patch to fix them first time you play them. They need to cut that bullsh*t out immediately.
  23. I think we're just starting to see a shift away from "AAA" gaming. People are starting to get fed up of grey and brown FPS' and gritty action games, but the purchase figures for indie titles on platforms like Steam suggest that gaming is very much still alive and well, we're just looking elsewhere for our gaming fixes now instead of buying whichever iteration of CoD is coming out. Also (as has already been said) we're pretty early on in this generation's life cycle, so most developers aren't taking any real risks with their "big" games just yet. For every sh*tty franchise that just keeps knocking out the annual updates, you have something different like Five Nights at Freddies (although now we're getting to the 4th installment, they might start to be guilty of milking a franchise for all it's worth). Even though the mainstream gaming market is heading towards a world of HD remasters instead of unique IPs, we're still getting games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Child of Light, OlliOlli, and lots of cool other "indie" games (can we really still call them indie now guys like Ubisoft are making plays for XBLA revenue?). Basically, gaming isn't dead, but you are going to have to look a little harder now to find something different and a little more off the beaten track.
  24. Yeah, that was a bit of a shocker alright. My money is on Ramsey not making it to the wedding. Possibly. Hopefully. Either that or a full blown Darth Sansa heel turn. :D
